Diversification of battery chemistries is critical for long-term capacity growth, to better optimize our products for their various use cases and expand our supplier base. This is why nearly half of Tesla vehicles produced in Q1 were equipped with a lithium iron phosphate (LFP) battery, containing no nickel or cobalt. Currently, LFP batteries are used in most of our standard range vehicle products, as well as commercial energy storage applications. As a result of our energy efficient motors, a Model 3 with an LFP battery pack can still achieve a 267-mile EPA range.” Looks like the phone you typed this comment on contains more cobolt 😅

This will be a thing when once a car is done charging to 80% the car and the charger talk to each other and the car drives off on its own and finds a parking space, then lets the owner know where it's parked. In the meantime the next car in the cue drives itself into the charging slot and so on and so on. We'll get there it's going to take a while but it will be sooner than you think. Why because tech is advancing and the more it advances the faster it becomes. Our biggest worry needs to be how are folks going to make an income.

NIO's battery swap service simply kills this idea. NIO's battery swap station swaps your EV battery in less than 5mins, and its 2nd gen station allows you stay in the car to wait for the swap complete.
