Cool thing about this riff is that it's not hard to play, it's just really clever! Jared is a perfect example of "play smart, not hard". His increase in tapping on this album really compliments the rest of the music so well and allows him to play stuff that sounds really crazy but isn't too demanding for him to play! Compliments from a fellow death metal bass player dude, I'm impressed!

Anybody else love the fact that death metal musicians are the standard for fun, good hearted, supportive people? Everyone else is causing riots and shooting at each other and getting into major drug problems, while bands like Archspire are doing tutorials on YT and engaging with their fans in pleasant normal ways...all while playing songs that will hit hard enough to make you crap your pants. Also, yeah...just...super simple chord progressions faster than my eyes can register.

Take a minor chord and flatten the 5th by a half step, you have a diminished chord.

Diminished chords are way easier than they appear, for one simple reason - they're totally symmetrical so they are mega easy to learn and visualise Plus like Brett said, any time you have a minor chord, just find the 5th degree and take it down one semitone - bob's your uncle, diminished chord!

Question : is the whole guitar tuned down to match the drop A - or is it in standard with the dropped B ?

Drop A would be standard tuning with the other strings and bottom string tuned down a whole step. Think E standard => Drop D.

Tobi didn't have the octave lower E that Dean had because he played 7-strings for a long time until he switched to 8-string recently. Jared is the same for the bass equivalent.

Just from randomly noodling around randomly on bass I think it's achievable if I were to practice it. I'm not saying it's easy or anything, but it just doesn't seem like the hardest.
