"Is Tithing Biblical?" No, sole part of Mosaic Law, illegal to be taken by anyone under Melchisedek Priethood.

No one will be perfect ( sinless ) until we reach heaven ( Romans 7:14-24 ). The Bible teaches that, while we are in the flesh, we will always struggle with a sin nature. If we are perfect why do we need grace?

That is a wonderful question dewayne. Thank you for your reply. Paul is the author of Romans. Now, when we read Romans 7:14-24, Paul is not talking about his current state of sin. What he is doing is describing the effect of sin on his life. And, I think that Paul describes sin in our lives very well. I would agree 100% with Paul. I think that if we are all honest with ourselves we could agree that the way that Paul describes sin in our lives is very accurate. Paul speaks like this.... Eating candy bars make me fat. If Paul said that, it would not mean that Paul is currently eating a candy bar. All he would be saying is what effect the candy bar would have on him. If we continue down to verse 24, Paul says , " Oh, what a miserable person that I am ! Who will free me from this life that is dominated by sin and death. If you stop at verse 24, which you did, you would notice that you stopped in the middle of Paul asking a question. The problem is that you did not continue further. If you continue to read verse 25, Paul states that ," Thank God! The answer is in Jesus Christ our Lord. So you see how it is in my mind I really want to obey god's law, but because of my sinful nature I am a slave to sin." Verse 25 tells us that Paul recieved the answer which is Jesus Christ. So because Paul recieved the answer, he is no longer captive to sin. He is no longer a sinner. Furthermore, Paul states, "so you see how it is". That means, something like, do you get it now? Do you understand what I am saying?, did you understand the example? Paul was simply telling us about how sin effected his life. He was not stating that he was currently a sinner. In act 9 , we are given an account of Saul's conversion, and it states, " Brother Saul, the Lord Jesus, who appeared to you on the road has sent me so that you might regain your sight and be filled with the Holy Spirit." Now. Since you are a catholic, you believe in a place called purgatory, and that people who are destined to go to heaven need to go to purgatory to be cleansed in order to be with God. So if you as a catholic believe that you have to be cleansed before being in God's presence then so would Saul. Saul would have to be cleansed just like purgatory in order to receive the Holy Spirit? So if according to your catholic church, nothing dirty or sin can be around God, that would mean that in order for Saul to recieve the Holy Spirit, he would have to be sinless also. The same thing applies to your eucharist. Because you believe that bread and wine are really Jesus then that would mean that you would have to go to purgatory to be cleansed before receiving Jesus. The question is, do catholics go to purgatory every week before receiving the bread? The answer would be no. You don't. In fact catholics would say that purgatory is a place you go to after you died. So the problem with catholic teaching is that since there is no place on earth to be cleansed like your purgatory, then it would be impossible for a catholic to receive the eucharist. It would also be impossible for a baby or anyone else to receive the Holy Spirit in baptism. So, using your catholic faith, we can see that the catholic church lies and is unbiblical. If you read Romans 7:14-24 then you would have had to have read the beginning of Romans 7 which makes it clear that the law ended. If you read Romans 4:15, Paul says, " For the law always brings punishment to those who obey it. ( So , the only way to avoid breaking the law is to have no law to break.? If Jesus fulfilled the law, then the law ended and we are no longer bound by the law. Now, lets go to Colossians1:21-23. Again this is Paul speaking. And he says, " This includes you who were once far away from God. You were his enemies, separated from him by your evil thoughts and actions. Yet now he has reconciled you to himself through the death of Christ in his physical body. As a result, he has brought you into his own presence, and you are holy and blameless as you stand before Him without a single fault. But you must continue to believe this truth and stand firmly in it. Don't drift away from the assurance you received when you heard the Good news. So Paul is stating that the Christian is Holy, Blameless and without fault. The only way to do all that is to be sinless. Now the key is to continue to believe that you are sinless and stand firmly in that belief. Catholics failed. Catholics did not hold to this truth and that is why the catholics believe in confession. Because they stopped believing the truth from God. In the book of Jude, Jude tells us in verse4 , that " I say this because some ungodly people have wormed their way into your churches saying that God's marvelous grace allows us to live immoral lives. The condemnation of such people was recorded long ago, for they have denied our only Master and Lord, Jesus Christ. Jude was speaking about the grace of being sin free or sinless and that there were people in the church claiming that because we are sinless that we can continue sinning. And that is false. Being sinless does not give us a right to sin. Jude is condemning the catholic church and catholics for claiming just like you did, that "No one will be perfect(sinless) until we reach heaven." You are also speaking about what Jude said... you are telling people that they can't be sinless but they can continue to be sinners. You are teaching the very same message the both Paul and Jude are condemning. You ended your reply with a question that states, "If we are perfect why do we need grace?" In regards to this question, we are not perfect. Only God is perfect. Sinless and perfect are not the same thing. Perfect implies there are no flaws in us. But sin only means breaking God's law. So, to help you understand what this means I will give you an example of a husband and wife. Let's say that a wife asks her husband to please go to the grocery store and buy her some icecream. So the husband goes to the store but along the way he forgets about the icecream. It happens to us all. Sometimes we are forgetful and that shows that we are not perfect. But did the husband sin ? Of course not. There is no law that says that we have to buy a wife icecream. So, is the husband perfect? No, he is not perfect. Did the husband sin? No, the husband didn't sin. So from this example we can see that they are two different things. Are Christians perfect. No. Are Christians sinners? No. Christians don't sin because they have faith in Jesus Christ. I want to recommend you think about something. Can a blind man lead a blind man? No. Jesus tells us that they will both end up in a ditch. Can a sinner lead a sinner? NO. They will both end up in a ditch. Only someone who has stop sinning can help another person understand how to stop sinning. A sinner can't correct someone if he doesn't have the answer. Have you ever heard the bible verse Matthew 7:3-5? It says And why worry about the speck in your friends eye when you have a log in your own ? How can you think of saying to your friend, Let me help you get rid of that speck in your eye, when you cant see past the log in your own eye? What that means is that a sinner cannot teach a sinner. A blind man cannot lead a blind man. Nobody can lead another unless they know the truth. So you have made some very big claims in your statement. But as you can see God disagrees with your statement. As for grace. Why do we need it? The answer is found in many places, including John 8:12... I am the light of the world. If you follow me, you won't have to walk in darkness. Without God's grace we would all be lost in the darkness. John 15, Jesus the true vine. Jesus says, " Yes, I am the vine; you are the branches. those who remain in me, and I in them, will produce much fruit. for apart from me you can do nothing. So we need grace because apart from Jesus we can do nothing. It is only through Jesus Christ that we are made right with God. I hope this helps you on your journey to the Lord. May God Bless you and keep you.

If we are SINLESS, then that means that Matt 6.12 is irrelevant. Don’t we ask for forgiveness? In 1John 1:8, John, when he says “we” and “us,” is referring to himself and other believers. Until we are GLORIFIED in God’s presence in heaven, though, we will still inhabit a sin-infected body we struggle. The STRUGGLE against our FLESH is CONSTANT, even for the mature Christian ( Romans 7:15-24 ). Our battle against sin will not end on this side of eternity. My brother if you think that you have arrived at SINLESSNESS, think again. “Beloved, we are God’s children now, and what we will be HAS NOT YET APPEAR; but we know that when He ( Christ ) appears we SHALL be like Him, because we shall see Him as He is ( 1 John 3:2 ). Q- Were there anyone in the Bible who achieved sinlessness? Surely there not a righteous ( sinless ) man on earth who does good and never sins ( Ecclesiastes 7:20 ). Again, if we are sinless, then we would have to get rid of Matt ( 6:12 ) and 1 John 1-8 ). If you are SINLESS, that means you have already put on that GLORIFIED BODY and you are already in heaven. Walking in the light is explained in 1John 1:8-10 and in Ephesians 5:13. Through the Word of God indwelling Holy Spirit shows we ( believers ) still possesses and old nature ( vs 8 ), and needs the FORGIVENESS of our sins ( VB 9-10 ). The blood of Christ is the divine provision for both. To walk in the light is to live in fellowship with the Father and Son. Sin interrupts fellowship but cannot change relationship. Confession restores fellowship and immediate confession keeps the fellowship unbroken. Jesus said - My little children ( Believers ), these things I write to you, that ye not sin. And IF ANY man SIN, we have an advocate with the Father, Jesus Christ the righteous. Colossians 3:12-13 says- “Put on them, as God’s chosen ones, holy and beloved, compassionate hearts, kindness, humility, meekness, and patience, 13- bearing with one another and, forgiving each other; as the Lord has forgiven you, so you also must forgive. Be blessed!

Is tithing biblical? Sure. Is tithing as it is practiced today biblical? No. There's no such thing as a biblical tithe received from earned wages. Corey has it right. Tom has it way wrong.

@markb7067 Hey Mark. Your right. Tithing is biblical. The old testament shows that. But we are no longer under the law because Jesus fulfilled the law. The law ended. Tom is absolutely 100% wrong. Corey is more right then Tom but Corey missed what Paul was saying. Paul explains that we should love our teachers, pastors etc by helping them. But the teachers, pastors, etc should not be teaching for money or for the wrong reasons. The teachers should be doing it because they love to serve God. That was Paul's reward. Not money. So although Corey is more right then Tom, Corey is still not right. Because he didn't teach God's message. God speaks spiritually whereas man speaks from a human perspective. Corey did not teach God's message. So because of that, both Corey and Tom are in a ditch. If we are not teaching correctly then we are teaching incorrectly. Only someone who knows and understands God can teach about God. Otherwise it's the blind leading the blind. Mark. Paul went to great lengths to give the message that he did. And since Corey did not teach that message, then what Corey taught is pointless. I recommend reading Corinthians 12:14-18. Paul says.. I don't want what you have- I want you! I will gladly spend myself and all I have for you. That is God's message of love. Corey misses out on everything that Paul is teaching. If you only tell someone part of a message then it's no message at all.

@@TheTruthsOfOurFaithThanks for the feedback and for the information. I agree that Tom is wrong on practically every point he makes. I think where Corey is right in terms of what tithing was, biblically. And yes, I agree that Paul's message was and is meaningful and important. Just not binding on the believer today in terms of tithing.

@markb7067 One of the many things that I love about Paul is that he tells us that he is not here to tell us how to practice our faith. All he wants is to partner with us on our journey. Paul never binds Christians to tithe. So you are absolutely correct. But, Paul just explains that we should want to live our lives in a loving way. It's up to each and every Christian to live out their faith as they see fit. I agree with Paul. Nobody is obligated to tithe. But if a Christian wants to give money to a pastor or teacher then that's okay to. This is why we need to have these conversations, to help people understand the truth. There is no law that says we have to tithe. If a person wants to, that's fine. If they choose not to, then that is fine also. Thanks again Mark for your response. Like I said. It helps us all when we have these discussions. God Bless
