@stoeger 2 And it's sad, you know? The concept of Waterworld has so much potential - it can be a cautionary tale about climate change and the idea of diving for trinklets and treasures we now consider mundane is very interesting. But alas, the execution was poor and that's what we got. Now Waterworld is mostly popular for the ambitious movie production and the problems they had while filming it (including deaths during production).
@JohnDoe-wq5eu

@@DisasterEXE Do you know did they ever make it any documentaries based around that mess? I bet it would be a 100% more entertaining watch than the movie itself. Also the saddest thing with this game is games were known for being "very loosely" based on the properties they were taken from. The best ones were/are fun games first and foremost. The worst were games like this.
@DisasterEXE

@@JohnDoe-wq5eu Other than some KZitem videos about it, no. I don't know of any documentaries, but yeah, that would be much more entertaining to watch. I'm 31, so I remember renting this videogame and many other based on movies or cartoons, and it was always nice to see something you loved in the form of another media. Obviously, as you develop a keener eye for details, you start seeing inconsistencies between the original source and the adaptation. Take for example the Star Wars SNES games. They're far from a canonical adaptation, and yet they are *so much fun* and *so freaking hard*! It goes both ways though. Movie games adapted from video games is a similar, yet different kind of hell.

It is pretty good in its own right, however - if you're in the mood for fast-paced rave music played on an FM synth, it's got you covered and with some style to boot. Waterworld was intended for a US release which was finished, along with the Gameboy version. It was also cancelled on the Genesis, 3DO, Saturn, 32X, and Sega CD, meaning this game has technically been cancelled 7 times.
