Great podcast, the only thing I wish you had asked him about was GHB use for sleep. I'd be very curious what Broderick would have to say about GHB since it was commonly used by bodybuilders decades ago.

Personally, it took me a long severe medical issue to get answers to my insomnia. In my case its Partial Deficiency of Thyroxine Binding Globulin. Which means I have too much free thyroid hormone in my body. However, you would not know if you only pulled my TSH, T3, T4. Which is what every single provider will do. You have to test Thyroxine Binding Globulin and Reverse T3 Uptake. I ordered them myself and then my Endo had no other choice but to tell me I was right. My condition it not that rare btw 1/4000 which is 250 people per million. If you have unsolvable insomnia, and you read this comment, get those blood markers tested and if TBG is at the bottom of the range you may have it. The answer to solve your insomnia btw is 1-3mg of SUBLINGUAL Melatonin.
@DanielPekic
3 ай бұрын
Thank you for the comment. TBG can be lowered by a number of things, including anabolic steroid use. Me and Broderick addressed this in an older podcast. Although Melatonin (I have tried sublingual also) does not work for me, I am glad to see you have resolved your issues. I am hoping to have a discussion with someone who regularly prescribes Melatonin for more novel use cases and I will mention the TBG interaction also.

I’ve had it most of my life. Tried all the low hanging fruit, melatonin, antihistamines etc. Been put on a low dose mirtrazipine 15mg and that has helped a lot. It’s actually an anti anxiety drug but has drowsy effects. Some people report weight gain on it but I’ve been fine while using it.

Ive had it my whole life. My mom said even as a baby, i just would not go to sleep. Regardless of when i wake up or how much i work, i do not want to fall asleep. I could be passing out on my couch, but the second i lay in my bed its tossing and turning and waking up every three hours. Benzos help, but for sleep, the best thing ive found is flubromazelam. Trazedone is a close second, but Flub is the best, least narcotic sleep solution I've found.

Lots of altered states of consciousness, both drug induced and otherwise, have a bit in common with psychosis, and it's possible to get sensitized to that overlap through lifestyle choices. For a few months I was so sensitized that I saw weird colors and tracers behind moving objects whenever I got too stressed or did vigorous exercise.

Great that you have brought him.back daniel. Is it possible to do a podcast with him exclusively on the topic of how peds can influence sports skill developement,acquisition and retention and those sorts of things? The hows and whys and the products and dosages being deployed by the high level sports guys. I have heard him and few others touch on the topic a bit in some podcasts but nothing in detail. That would be great if you can get him to talk about it elaborately

Hey there. Thanks for watching. I have noted this question down now and will address it in a future Q n A with Broderick. I will make sure to have this question answered when me and Broderick meet in person next month for a higher quality production. We will be answering all of the good questions and this is one of them. Yes, we have touched on this in older podcasts, but I agree it is now time for more deep dive conversations. If you have others, the best way to reach out to me is info@danielpekic.com but I’ll be here also.

That's awesome. I can barely wait to hear the elaborate discussion on the topic from you guys. I have always been intrigued with the idea that peds can very positively impact skill Acquisition rate. Looking forward to it man. Also i got another question, that is, how would broderick approach training and utilize peds for full contact athletes or anybody who is looking to climb up in weight by adding muscle without compormising their endurance/conditioning at all? Everytime people gain muscle their conditioning seems to suffer a ton. Top level guys like oleksandr Usyk and Evander holyfield seemed to have got it Right. I know broderick's mentor dr. hatfield helped holyfield transition from cruiser to heavyweight back in the day. So would love to have Broderick's informed elaborate take on the topic. Specially the drug usage and also the kind of training periodization he would deploy in such a scenario

The Wikipedia article on ketamine mentions a lot of receptors, but none of the ones it's confirmed to interact with are shared with MDMA. Maybe Broderick misspoke and was trying to say that ketamine interacts with NMDA receptor?

Great conversation, do you know Brodericks thoughts on seroquel as sleep aid? In low doses it functions as a anti histamine but is also straddling the anti depressant category
@DanielPekic
2 ай бұрын
Seroquel is popular in Western Australian jails and has been linked to several gynecomastia cases; two of which I know personally. I would caution against anything that has this link, given there are other options to consider first. A primary focus for me at least in this podcast was how each sleep aid could induce normal sleep architecture, rather than knocking you out. It seems that Seroquel is a KO drug.

Seroquel is certainly an option, but for reasons I don’t have length to explain here, I would not recommend it as first line treatment. My friends in jail use it as it is one of the only available options. Does it work, yes. Does it come with more problems than it solves for many? Also yes. Do what works for you, but to give everyone concrete advice based on n = 1 is bad advice.
