I haven't heard it referred to as Dark Empath before but she definitely seems Intellectually Empathic. She knows what people are feeling but remains detached.

This is the first time I've heard about this type of empathy but it makes so much sense now, how I can relate to Wednesday 🤯

now there's no doubt why i see myself in Wednesday. i am a pure cognitive empathy. i always have told that i can't FEEL empathy, but i can fully understend others feeling

Then that makes total sense why you would relate to her! ❤️

Finally I have the words to describe my empathy. I know I don't have zero empathy. I know what to do to make people happy or upset and I was always afraid it might be manipulation because I know how to make people like me when I want them to. It's nice to have the words to explain it. I always just thought of it like "I have no empathy but I understand you are sad and will therefore engage in acts of comfort I think would benefit you" because I honestly don't feel sad when others are and it doesn't bother me most of the time. I do however prefer to keep the people in my surroundings in good moods because I don't like people killing the vibes. It's a win for me to play the part because I like the peace and quiet. So I guess that's transactional in a sense. I want "this" response and behavior from you, so I will use what I know about social interaction to get you back to that level. Interesting.

I'm a lot like Wednesday in most ways except I'm less conflict seeking and don't have a murder mystery to solve. Your analysis of Wednesday (in the longer videos) has given me the terms to explain why I am the way I am. I've always understood myself but not having the words for it is bothersome. I'll be watching the rest of your videos on this series too.

do you make people feel a certain way because you want to them feel better, or know it’s the right thing, or just because you want them to be quiet?
@wiiboiwill

@@podobunny1 a mix of moral and "please shut up". I don't really care if someone feels bad but I make myself act anyways to be a "good person". For the sake of harmony and to get on people's good sides. Much easier to get things the way you want when people like you imo. When it comes to those close to you at least. If I treat someone well it may lead to advantages for me in the long run. I don't feel a person's pain or get sad when someone gets sad unless it reminds me of a personal hardship but then I'm only relating it to myself. Happy people makes for a calmer and easier life lol

@@wiiboiwill Interesting! I was just curious. For many other people, they feel slightly sad when others get hurt or sad. Because they want the sad person to be happy, and they can relate to them. I am only this way with people I am very close to though. If my father or mother died, I would cry because I love them. And if someone bullied my sister, I would be fuming, because I love her very much.

@@podobunny1 I do still love people though! I love people and things and may want the best for them, I just can't connect to their emotions well. I've had people die and it makes me sad, yes, but that's because it directly effects me! If someone I know experiences loss I don't feel much about it. Not experiencing empathy is different to not having emotions. I'm not a psychopath lol. I can still be sad, mad, happy etc on the behalf of myself and others, it's just that others emotions don't outright change my emotions. Think how Wednesday doesn't care about others getting mad but is heartbroken when thing is stabbed. A person I care about dying may still hurt me, because I love them. It's more of how personally connected you are to an event that does it. If you kill my mom I will act in revenge and be upset, because I'm not emotionless. If my mom is sad because someone she cares about was hurt, I don't feel anything, but will act as if I do because I know what is proper social behavior. Am I making any sense? If someone I REALLY care about gets sad I won't share their sorrow but rather get mad and want justice for them. This is mostly reserved for those I really care for though. I have a strong sense of justice and fairness, and don't let people do bad things unpunished. If anything I think my kind of empathy allows me to play the role of peacemaker. I can easily be the middleman when others get consumed by their emotions. I've stopped plenty of arguments and helped people see logic behind other people's actions when they are too blinded by their own feelings to think for themselves. I see it as a positive trait.

'dark empathy' sounds a bit judgmental. Cognitive empathy is beneficial. Some people primarily empathise with others this way, it helps you keep a cool head because you don't get overwhelmed by your own emotional reaction. Also makes you less likely to project your feelings onto someone else like so many people who are primarily emotionally empathetic. I have found that especially in emergencies cognitive empathy with a lack of emotion can be extremely useful.

Oh yes, I agree! I don’t like the term at all. I use it because it’s the term most commonly used and I wanted to break it down more so people could see it’s not “dark”. The long-form video explains more :)

Yes but only for people who are good hearted and genuine they will comfort them because they respect genuine people but if you are not a person that honors decency or respect they will have no sympathy for you and will make that very clear.

Dark Empaths are considered one of the most dangerous personality disorders even Narcissists try not to cross them and avoid them unless they have a shared goal which won't be fun for the Narcissist when said goal is met and they try to cross the Dark Empath who's already 2 steps ahead and the Narcissist finds out they can't do this unless they want serious ramifications for their action/s and Dark Empaths can get sadisticly creative, cold, and calculated they will make you regret ever meeting them and you'll never know what happened until your phone is full of hate mail and threats but that's just one of dozens of options to follow through with the revenge it's a nightmare because it's unpredictable what their going to do, how bad it will be, or when it will strike. It's best not to be messing with them they won't bother you at all unless you wrong them and no one wants that world of possibilities of problems you will receive.

Who pissed in your cereal this morning? Telling a psychologist to stop psychoanalyzing someone (even if it is a fictional character) 💀 she’s just using the show as a medium to educate her audience abt various psychological concepts. How about YOU stop it already and just relax.
