The whole Isabella storyline was so useless! They spent hours showing us how Suleiman was smitten with Isabella and how much pain and jealousy it caused for Hurrem. And then, all of a sudden, Isabella disappeared and Suleiman didn't even care. He was worried for five minutes and then completely forgot about her. Why did we waste so much time on this character if she wasn't important then?

Exactly! While I mostly dislike the arc for the sheer inaccuracy of it, how weirdly it ends definitely plays a part too. Like, it's barely clear what happened to her and the Valide's harem fraction are way more concerned about her loss than Suleiman. In retrospect, knowing what a great enemy Spain was, I almost wonder if Suleiman was meant to be in it out of getting a power trip of even a princess for a rival court falling for him and (maybe?) it making Hürrem jealous. All of which is decidedly icky.

@@Redluna32 Yes, this storyline was handled in a very weird way! I had to rewatch the episode several times and even then, I barely understand what happened to Isabella. Suleiman told Ibrahim that Isabella had left to go to some monastery to atone for her sins... but surely he must know that she didn't leave voluntarily! She was madly in love with him and it was obvious that Hurrem had done something to her. So why didn't Suleiman bother to look for Isabella? As you said, maybe Suleiman only used Isabella to make Hurrem jealous and/or because she was a foreign princess and it was good for his ego... but that sounds very out of character in my opinion. The Suleiman we know wouldn't use a woman and play with her feelings like that. So, I don't know what to think about it, really. And I feel the same way about Firuze, too. We spent so many episodes on her storyline, but Suleiman forgot about her very quickly after she left the palace.

I think suleman thought being a princess Isabella could not adjust in harem as suleman's concubine. Earlier she tried to escape several time. So she might left the palace on her own will. But someone must helped her. It might be hurrem. But there were no evidence. As Issabela complained him about hurrem so it was also possible she forcibly sent her away from the palace. But in that case Isabella could made an attempt to come back in the palace. But she did not. Because she realized she was not safe in the palace. Suleman could not protect her. Suleman also understand that. He was relieved to know that princess was alive and was in a safe place. So he didn't want to interfere in her life more. He hold ibrahim responsible for the whole incident. Because he was in the charge of harem. He was dismissed from the post and Balibe was appointed. He didn't take any action against hurrem because suleman's mother's accusition against hurrem was not true. Hurrem did not murder princess. She was alive. And there was no evidence that she helped her to escape.

@@cherylpiorkowskiit was true suleman was not playing with the feelings of Isabella. He was serious about his relationship with her. He clearly told ibrahim he did not want to use Isabella for any negotiations with Charles. He took care of her when she feel from horse and even warned hurrem not to disturb Isabella.

This arc is littered with inaccuracies, of course, but that bit at 1:35 always makes me want to groan the loudest. Like, tell me you did absolutely no research without telling me (although that's already shown by them choosing Spain, of all places for Isabella to be from). Because, no, the LAST thing Isabella would assume is that she'd share a room with Suleiman. Not when the harem rather was like the palaces of her country in that there were separate places for men and woman-notably those chambers for royal couples that were often political matches that might not care to be close. Like, the line of, "This place is not like the palaces in your country," would only have made sense if the show had kept to the reality that, at this time in history, the harem didn't occupy space in Topkapı, but rather the Old Palace. That level of separation would have been more believably odd for Isabella (and it's also why it was so notable that Hürrem received her own sort of consort chambers near Suleiman's there).
