I incorrectly stated the person who discovered this fig. In Ira Condit's monograph, Condit references a book by John Rogers, "The fruit cultivator" published by J. Ridgway and Sons, 1837, London. In this book, Rogers states "all the Ischia figs introduced by [Philip] Miller from an Italian island of that name were of first quality." Condit suggests Miller probably lost or destroyed the original labels of Italian figs, and then substituted such names as Ischia or Genoa in their places.
