@IslamAnswers The Mosques in Birmingham follow 12 degrees from End of March to End of October. And 17 or 18 degrees from October to March. In the Summer they freeze Isha and say Isha does not come in according to Imam Abu Hanifa so they pray anytime after Maghrib

Does the sun even drop to 18 degrees in the summer months in the UK? Isn't that the whole point of the midnight formula to account for this? Also also heard from a scholar that in these months Isha is prayed 1hr 30mijs (or so) after maghrib and this is an opinion in the Maliki school
@IslamAnswers

Asalamualeykum brother. When the Sun does not descend below 18 degrees, then for Isha you must switch to 13 degrees. Were you informed that you can pray Isha 90 minutes after Maghrib even if that ends up being before the red twilight disappearing? If yes, which authoritative Maliki Fiqh manual has stated this?

@IslamAnswers It's not 13 degrees. It's between 12 to 12.5

The Problem with this UMMAH is they all in a hurry to pray there salaah because they see it as an obligation which it is but not as an enjoyment so they read awwal salaah which is incorrect you can’t read awwal this Ulema in Europe will be responsible for it

I read a Hadith which is something like The Prophet SAW said delay the Isha Prayer which means currently the Isha time in the UK start time is 11:07 pm and even fajr they pray it 30 min before sunrise which especially on a Friday gives them time to read the Sunnah Surahs in the fard salaah and the Prophet SAW said pray fajr when it is still dark so if your women leave the musjid no one recognises them So Isha i pray at home unfortunately

Assalaamu alaikum The problem with all the observations is, that they seemed to be not continuous. Astronomers who observed continuous, up to 6 months, saw the right twilight even disappearing at 16,5 degrees. فافهم

18 degrees does not exist! It goes back to your original point of following something for the sake of it, even if 100 said it, it will still be incorrect.

"Asalamualeykum Sayidi What do you mean by 18 degrees does not exist? Do you mean that currently the sun is not descending to 18 degrees? If so then yes I agree. This is currently the case in many places. And people in such places should pray Isha at 13 degrees. If you mean something else then please clarify."

@@IslamAnswers wa alaykum as-salam. According to several observations, 18 degrees for fajr and isha is inaccurate
@IslamAnswers

"Yes, I am aware of this. There are a number of people who have said Fajr is other than 18 degrees. There may be many reasons for this. There are also several observations that have affirmed 18 degrees. I believe it is incredibly difficult to find a valid observation site for Fajr or Isha 18 degrees. This is certainly part of the problem. Personally, I have attempted to observe Fajr numerous times but have not had a valid observation due to the prevalence of artificial lighting. I have been repeatedly informed that the majority of Muslim astronomers went with 18 degrees. So I will stick with this until I observe something contradicting it. My firm advice to people is to follow 18 degrees for Suhoor and then delay Fajr as much as possible. In any case let's stick to the subject of the video for now, that being the issue of Isha being prayed early."

@@IslamAnswers If you see what Radd al-Muhtar mentions below If the red twilight is 12.5, that would make the white twilight at 15.5. I believe they were measuring the sun's azimuth, not altitude. In any case, the opinion of astronomers who are not trained in jurisprudence should be taken with extreme caution.

"This Nass from Radd al-Muhtar has been used by those who insist red twilight is 15 degrees and white is 18 degrees. The Nass is insufficient by itself. It must be checked against observations. In the Hashiyah it is important to differentiate between an opinion Imam Ibn Abideen presents from leading authorities of the Madhab and other narrations."

السلام عليكم ورحمة الله وبركاته I have calculated through a website that the Ishaa salaah time today in Blackburn is at 00:13am at 12 degrees. I was wondering whether this is a similar time to the results you got for 13 degrees. If you could please share the time with us, that will be greatly appreciated.

Wa alaykumu salaam. If 13° doesn't come in then you may go to with 12.5° and if that doesn't then possibly 12°, although it is controversial. You can use Muwaqqit website for working out Isha time.

I think you may have misheard. Shaykh said many Masaajid pray before Isha comes in. Only some have started to move away from that stance. To my knowledge, there is one in Banbury, Luton and Oxford.

Maybe I misheard. One question for Shaykh, is that if for example today in my location Ishaa salaah at 13 degrees is at 1:08 and Fajr starts at 1:11, would he recommend going off 12.5 or 13 degrees?
