hi :3 so, what do you guys do when the engine shuts down? whats the course of action? are you guys just stranded wherever you are? how do you reach out for help? sorry if my questions seem ignorant, im new to the world of sailing

Howdy! Luckily we are a sailboat so our primary mode of transportation is our sails; the engine is secondary. We had a slow bob back down to Banderas Bay, thanks to Starlink we could call our friends and tell them we were coming and would need help. We also have VHF and SSB which are reliable forms of communication

Wow ! Same situation last weekend….My Perkins 40 in my Bristol 40yawl did the same thing and left me stranded and had to sail 340 miles that took forever and got within range of sea tow. it just started knocking real hard and was told it was getting to much fuel and still waiting for mechanic to get back with me…I hate 40 Perkins with oil seal always leaking. Looking to put in new Yanmar but may be to expensive. Looking forward to your next episode

There's something wrong with your engine set up or rebuild. Those 4108s run for forever when treated correctly. We had one in our boat since I was about 5 years old for 15-20 years. Now we have marinized Toyota 2.2L in a different bigger boat which was completely rebuild...every moving part new, only the engine block remains. 700h hours done and it purrs like a kitten

@@smulismuli7976 this was over a year ago. Our issue was our FRESHLY CERTIFIED REBUILT fuel pump failing again. Afterwards, we decided to rebuild this engine on the hook in La Cruz. Now she’s bulletproof. Catch up here: www.svavocet.com/2023/07/15/rebuilding-a-perkins-4-108/

Great, another white bread sailing channel. I feel like I’m watching somebody’s vacation video. if you would stop trying to make a documentary and just record the sailing life you would have five times the subscribers. There’s at least a dozen other channels out there with your exact same recipe. throw out your script, stop staging scenes, and just record the sailing life. And watch your channel grow.

Funny enough we don’t give a flying 💩 about our subscriber count or views. We are making these for ourselves first and foremost to look back on. Sharing them with the public is a choice because we do offer some valuable knowledge. Here: anchoring tips, island history, an interview with the biologist, marine life facts AND shared the bummer about our engine. As for our “script” … I’m a writer for various sailing magazines and my husband is a documentary cinematographer - As in, we have full time jobs and don’t just let the internet pay us for this (going on) 7 year “sailing vacations”. We come together to make these. You don’t have to like us or our channel, you aren’t being held hostage. Just down vote and click elsewhere my dude, it isn’t that difficult.
