Island of cattle and raccoon dogs with extensive grazing land/Walk around the island village Oki Chiburi Island (Shimane Prefecture)
About 40 km north of the Shimane Peninsula in the Sea of Japan, the southernmost island of Inko and Dozen. The island's name comes from the enshrinement of the Chifuri God, who protects the safety of harbingers, as it is the gateway to the Oki Islands when viewed from the mainland of San'in. It is a small island with a circumference of 50km, and wild radish flowers bloom in early May on Mt. Akahage, which is 325m above sea level, and cattle graze leisurely in the pastureland around it.
In the Kamakura period (1185-1333), there is a description in the "Azuma Kagami" of the Oki Islands, where fields were divided up and farming and livestock farming were alternately performed. Livestock and fisheries are the main industries of this island, and it is the only place in Japan where the "Minnaichi Odori", which is thought to be a Kyogen kouta lineage that conveys the atmosphere of the Muromachi period, is still being danced to this day.
The appearance of a fishing village where you can still taste the simplicity and richness of humanity, and the great nature where the old days and the present intersect with a silent smile. An ideal island for sightseeing, fishing, and swimming.
"Paradise in the Sea of Japan, Chiburi Island in Oki Islands". It has a geosite of the Oki Islands UNESCO Global Geopark. (Refer to "Shimadasu")
