The Isle of Skye, is one of the most visited tourist destination in Scotland which is located to the extreme north of Scotland. It is the largest and northernmost of the major islands in the Inner Hebrides archipelago of Scotland. The Isle of Skye, connected to Scotland's northwest coast by bridge, and is known for its rugged landscapes, picturesque fishing villages and medieval castles.
The island was considered to be under Norwegian suzerainty until the 1266 Treaty of Perth which transferred control over to Scotland. It has an indented coastline of peninsulas and narrow lochs, radiating out from a mountainous interior.
Tourism, agriculture, fishing and forestry are the main industries of the island. Skye is part of the Highland Council local government area. Portree is the capital of the Island and also has the largest settlement. It is well known for its picturesque harbour which also attracts tourists throughout the year. The town of Portree, offers a base for exploring the island and features harbourside pubs and boutiques.
The landscapes seen in the video are captured on a drive from Aberdeen to Isle of Skye (Neis Point Lighthouse). The entire route is full of surprises and is worth the time spent. The drive was approximately 10 hours (Return) but it was so refreshing looking at the natural beauty. If you are in North Scotland, I would highly recommend a trip to the Isle of Skye. If you want to see a detailed video of the landscape then watch my next video on Neist Point Lighthouse.
