Looks like a great trip! I camped at Daisy Farm last year and had a huge bull moose walk about 30 ft. from my hammock at dusk. I saw 7 moose on my trip across the island. Can’t wait to get back to Isle Royale!

I’m so jealous man lol …it was so hot we only heard of one person the whole time who saw a moose. The rangers said when it’s that hot they hide lol

Great hike ! 👍 I’ve always wanted to visit the island. Your trip was quit ambitious for me….. not sure I could do that many miles per day, and I’m certain the heat would’ve gotten to me. Great video !!!

With good company to keep your spirits high is what I found to get me through it! I’ve never done more than 15 miles before this. It’s a great sense of achievement considering the miles and heat! Thanks for watching!

Wonderful video !! I'm glad at the end of the video you showed your trip on the map. I was wondering what your route had been. I think it would have been more fun during cooler weather.

That’s what we all said. It was a great hike but 65 degrees would’ve made it much more pleasant lol thanks for watching!

Always wanted to go to Isle Royals to hike it, but never made it there. Now, at 72, I feel like I am too old, sigh……… So your video was a great way to see the island in proxy. Thank you! Joy S from Northern Indiana

It really is a beautiful place! There’s still lots to see without having to hike the trails! There’s boat rides and lots of lodges! You still have time!

I've talked about the isle for about 15 yrs. At least! My buddy Tim and I have always wanted to go there! That is definitely a bucket list trip for me, just because of the memories and everything with my buddy. He actually got me into backpacking all those years ago. Man, I am getting old!! Well, anyway, lmao!!! Thanks for sharing this amazing trip, bud.

The photo with trail friends is exactly my experience. I expected solitude and nature but met a community of like-minded folks who I stay in touch with years later!

Haha nice! I’ve kinda had the same experiences on the Superior Hiking Trail back when I first started it! I wanted seclusion and to be left alone. Instead I met tons of people I made friends with and still keep in touch with now days! Now it happens all over and I’m not mad about it at all lol …thanks for watching! I’m glad you enjoyed it! My favorite trip of the year!

Lucky. : ) Isle Royale is on my bucket list. If I had the training and opportunity, you'd bet your estate I'd be a park ranger there. . .preferably all year long. Thank you @Swag On The Trail 82. PS: did you take the Grand Marias ferry?
@Ontrail82

Yes, we took the ferry but it’s from Grand Portage! A 2 hour ride.

Bucket list hike for me. How were the hammock camping possibilities at the campsites?
@Ontrail82
11 ай бұрын
Funny you ask…we commented while we were out there that hammocks would be a hard thing to try and go for as even tent pads are hard to get! They have an over population of visitors to the campsites and there’s never enough room. Sounds like it happens pretty frequently out there as there is no reservations on sites.

Great video! Thinking about taking my wife there this summer, but had a few questions: 1) If we go mid-August, will the bugs still be bad? 2) How was the long journey from Rock Harbor? Looks like it makes a lot of stops and takes 6 hrs. How was it for you?
@Ontrail82

Thanks! I appreciate it! Not sure about question 1 since I went in September. We had zero bug issues when we went. Question 2 you are correct that that’s the time they say it will take to get back but when we came back they only had to drop one person off and didn’t have anyone to pick up so that cut our time back down significantly.
