It is 200 km - 2.5 hour - way to #Qalajiq village, #Ismayilli from #Baku. After arriving in #Qalajiq need to change transport to #Ural or #Niva, #UAZ to drive to Sangar Qala pasture. It is also possible to hike to #SanagarQala pasture (2 hour way).
The village is located at the foot of a number of mountains with beautiful nature, 28 km northwest of the Ismayilli region. A strong mountain river flows between the avalanches and ravines on both sides of the village. The mountain pass, called Gadik, is reminiscent of a village's only entrance. As soon as you enter here, you feel inside a magnificent castle. That is why our ancestors called this place "Qalajiq". The history of the settlement of the #Lezgi in the village of Qalajik dates back to the establishment of the Caucasian state of #Albania. The Lezgins, called Legs, lived in the Samur River valley in the first century AD, then moved to #Dagestan and then to the south, crossed the #Caucasus Mountains, and settled in the area where they now live. The #population is engaged in agriculture, grain growing, tobacco growing, fruit growing, and animal husbandry.
The village is distinguished by certain historical monuments. One of them is the “Qasim khan” fortress, which is believed to belong to the IX-XIV centuries, on the bank of the #Sangar river near #Qalajik, and the ruins of the fortress called “Sangar fortress” by the locals. It is unknown who built the tower. It is only known that the fortress was a defensive fortification. At the end of the 18th century, during a feud between #Shamakhi khan Mustafa khan and his uncle Qasim khan, Qasim khan came to the #Sangar fortress, which is now in ruins, by mountain roads and restored it. The cemetery, located in the upper part of the village and popularly called "#Pirdavud", is protected by the state. Those who sleep here are #haputs belonging to the Lezgi language group. #Qalajik village is also a village with great tourism potential. So, there is a beautiful waterfall, many cool springs and historic places to see.
The villagers of #Qalajik have their own traditions. With some distinctive features, all other customs and traditions are the same as the customs of the Azerbaijani people. Such customs include mere mourning at weddings and the joint participation of the entire population in mourning ceremonies. The villagers also have such a feature. If you are invited to a wedding, you may not go, and no one will offend you. It is impossible not to come to the mourning ceremony because the eyes of the mourner quickly choose not to come to his door during this mourning.
