Rosie you should check out Jim Goldberg rich and poor. Also the documentary and book raised by wolves. From what you was looking into you will really appreciate the work. Pictures where the you have the subject writing what they see. So inspiring as well as heartbreaking in someways. Oh my khalik allah. His a photographer and also a filmmaker. Check out “black mother” the documentary. He was meant to have a Q&A at the ICA in central London premiering his new feature IWOW this month but got cancelled due to pandemic. His one of my favourite creators.

May I ask how do photographers afford shooting commercial portraits on film?
