Hi! i'm Korean. I was impressed by your video👍 Raising isopods togeter is rare in Korea, so I have a few questions. 1. Doesn't isopod attack hermit crabs or interfere with their shedding? 2. What about Dwarf White isopods? 3. Are powder orange and blue safe? There's rumor that he's going to attack hermit crab

@@mozzi931not all species can be housed with hermit crabs. Any high protein hungry isopods shouldn’t be housed with hermit crabs. Just because they do dig and will feed on molting crabs. Dwarf powder blue and orange will work well with hermit crabs and are safe to keep together.

Question: if the isopods can climb and potentially escape, how do you keep them in the tank when together with the hermit crabs? I’m using an Exo Terra tank for my hermits and there are climbing fixtures in the tank for the hermits.

Iso pods can't climb smooth surfaces like glass. As long as you don't have anything hanging from the substrate to the doors, they shouldn't be able to escape the tank. Do you have leaf litter and hides for them somewhere in a corner of the tank for them?

@@landhermitcrabeducenter ah ok that helps. So if you know Exo terra tanks, there’s the top (which is a steel mesh) and the doors at the front with vents just below them. I was concerned with both, but it looks like they won’t be able to get to the top mesh as I don’t have anything that would allow them to climb directly to the mesh. I am concerned with the vents at the front though… I would set up some hides for them - do these hides mean that they would only stay under there for most of the time or would they generally roam the tank to eat? I’m really introducing them to my crabitat to help with cleaning/eating up the crab poop.

@@snobt.v.816 if you have hermit crabs the mesh lid and vents should be completely sealed. Hermit crabs have modified gills which means they need a certain amount of heat and humidity in order to properly breathe and minimize any gill damage. In order to produce that the tank needs to be completely sealed with the proper set up. I have Terrace toppers for my base tanks. I have a TikTok with those videos if you’re interested. You can seal the vents from the outside with black packing tape from the dollar store.

@@landhermitcrabeducenter the humidity is 70-80 year round where I live so I don’t seal the tank up. If I did it would go beyond 80 easily. 😌

@@landhermitcrabeducenter hope you see the predicament now regarding how to make sure the isopods don’t escape without sealing the tank 😅
