The more i watched Izzy's kickboxing days. The more i think that if they could blend his fighting approach with that, i think izzy will find a ton of success. The style his team came up with in his MMA approach got stagnant, bland, rigid. When izzy is fully capable of being dynamic, adaptive and resourceful with his aggression and his defense. I just think they need a new approach. Look at how dynamic izzy was in his run to the belt. Then it completely changed. It seemed like his team wanted him to stick to a rigid game plan.. They stopped using Izzy's combos, elbows, Knee's, clinch fighting, dynamic movement, aggression that makes feints WORK.

Chael that was one of your best analyses yet bro! 100% agree with your summation. Izzy is the guy that turns fueds into fuel. Once he overcame the biggest fued of his career, he was out of that fire in his belly. As you say he had the fire for Dricus which didn’t eventuate. Mentally he just couldn’t pitch as he was unable to get himself to that same level. Now he has everything he ever wanted and more. He is probably taking the time to regain that hunger or something which he can use to raise him to those same heights as before! All of us couch warriors take it for granted just how difficult it is to pitch up and be your best at specific moments in time..in his last fight he was just not quite there. I remember watching Izzy’s training videos from that camp. He openly admitted that that red headed dude on their team beat him that day.

I know why and you know why. I was fighting for 10 years. Everytime I stand up. I got aches and I can tell you which fighter is responsible for which ache. I feel it's the same thing GSP was talking about. Before every fight you ask yourself to just get through this one and we're done. I would tell myself that next time I'll train harder. Train so hard my confidence will out weigh this nervous feeling. But no matter how hard you train that feeling never goes away. I found myself saying just do this one and we gonna chill out before every fight. And I fought like Issy. I had fights book a week apart. But once you get the high it's hard to get higher. Beating Alex.. there is no high higher then that. Beating Sean is not an as big of a high as beat Alex. He don't care about the belt.. So now Issy must sit out for the land scape to change. New fighters new middle weights. In high school I was smarter then most of the class. I would never answered the teachers question until a question was ask that the rest of the class couldn't answer. Else answering the question proved nothing. Issy just done answering simple question. He's waiting for an enigma the rest of the middle weights cant crack . Then he'll be back for that one question
