"Pristine" is quite subjective for this model. Considering the history and a high probability they were in service, I'd find wear and tear to be highly desireable as long as the barrel wasn't shot out. Rob did spectacular with this one.

The story of the K-98 Mauser in Israel is simply amazing. That the very rifle used to push Jews into the concentration camps helped defend Israel time and time again is simply mind blowing. Although my Fabrique National K-98 is NOT a sniper rifle ... it is in very good shape and shoots very well. I was very thankful to come across an Israeli Mauser, because I will NEVER own anything marked with a swastika or waffenamt, so this rifle fills a very important gap in my collection Of my collection of military rifles, it is the one I am most proud to own. I have read that Fab. Nat. built these rifles for Israel because the entire nation of Belgium was pissed off at the way the Brits treated Jews after WW2. These rifles were built on NEW equipment that Fab. Nat. came across. I have also read that Fab. Nat. and Israel still keep the numbers produced and the cost per rifle a closely guarded secret.

Belgians didn't give a crap about how Britain or anyone else treated Jews; they simply needed hard cash after WWII's devastation, even though Belgium suffered the least out of all the conquered countries. That's why they happily sold them the rights to manufacture the FAL and the MAG. They also happily sold them Hi-Power pistols and probably lots of other stuff that even I'm unaware of..

Great story about BF-109s.. and Israel. After WW2 the allies were very little help to Israel. Sometime around 2002 a bunch of rusted K-98s, marked 7.62 on receiver ring, came to America. They were boat anchors, but I cleaned one up because of the historical value. I wonder what kind of action these rifles have seen?

I have a question. Can anyone help? I keep hearing that rifles made today are more accurate than "precision rifles" from ww2 era. Is it possible to purchase a mauser and just switch out the old barrel for a new one? Would that the equivalent of having a new sniper rifle?
@VintageRiflesShootersClub
10 ай бұрын
I would say that much, on average, because of chassis systems, improved manufacturing techniques, and etc, it is easier to make high precision rifle than it was 50 years ago. And yes, you can buy barrels made for Mauser today. There was a guy selling barrels on Gun Boards just few weeks ago.

I like the TriggerCam, but it is more geared towards modern scopes...I wish they add more mount collars to the set. Also, their mobile app sometimes is sluggish...I like the idea with adjustable focus. Overall, i think it is good product, but I wish they would have slimmer mounting options for "vintage" scopes and more "collar" choices.

@@VintageRiflesShootersClubThanks for getting back to me. Using mine I found a couple issues. One is with eye relief and the other because the thing weighs a full 1lb. it wants to move the scope and mount around so causes to lose zero.
