If you know the thread pitch or the threads per inch then it should be pretty easy to work out how many turns you need. IE, if you have 16tpi fasteners then 1 full turn would give you 1/16" gain, and 2nd would give you your required 1/8" :-) . Mind you, I was born in a metric country so my logic could be waaaaay off 😅

Check to make sure your overrun is working. I busted the pto shaft one on my 1940 Ford 9N 40 years ago. Good news was; it was easy to replace. Don't know if it'd be easy on a modern tractor though. Maybe the clutch takes the place of an overrun nowadays, but it sure makes up for mistakes. It's basically a short springed section put on the pto shaft between the pto & the implement drive shaft. Add one, if you don't have one.

When we engage the PTO power on our farm we do this with the tractor RPM at a low speed, just above idle. Then we increase the motor RPM to bring the PTO RPM to 540 or 1000 depending on the implement. This is much easier on the tractor and the implement, although testing the slip clutch could be with PTO at full RPM speed we like to use a lower speed in case the clutch rebuild was not properly done and something lets loose. Just sharing a different approach. Great video, I enjoy your videos for both your skills and life outlook. Keep up the good work, and God bless you and your family!

Nice bush fix but before I put new caps on I always put a layer of heavy grease into the cup making sure the needle bearings stay put. Not a lot but enough that the bearings will stay even if you drop the cup (Voice of experience). Had a coworker that claimed he was a farm boy. When operating our brush hog he would bring the tractor to redline and dump the clutch. He broke a grade 8 shear pin almost every time he got on it. Broke the gear box. Ripped the metal deck where the gearbox mounted to on all four mounting corners. Tore the sidewalls away from the top of the deck and severely dented any sidewall that was left hanging . He bent the shaft coming from the gearbox that held the blades which caused the brush hog to brush hog itself. There is a clear crease in a perfect circle around the entire top of the deck from this. This brush hog was in perfect shape and only on it's second season when he got ahold of it. Guess who had to fix it when he broke it? If you guessed me you deserve a cookie. So glad that guy left

I was glad to see they set the pressure by spring depth and not something like a torque wrench. I'm an ag engineer, and something that's been coming around more lately is that torque wrenches are just a notoriously unreliable way to properly torque something down. Way better to use "turns after contact". Also, "lock washers" (split washers) were never meant to be used as "lock washers". Were originally meant to be like mini springs, and they can seperate and make things worse. Better to use lock nuts.
