I paid it off in about 18 months, and I have been driving it with no monthly payment for about 8.5 years since it was paid off, and it still runs good with 168,000 miles on it. It has the 2.5 four cyl engine with the 5 speed. And it is good on gas, I get 20mpg in the city with it. I can not even imagine paying $75,000 for a truck, that is more than my Fathers house is worth. He has a 3 bedroom 1 floor 1 bath ranch style house, with a garage and it was valued at $65,000 last year. It is not a mansion, but it is a nice little house for a family with 2 kids. I can not even see myself going to a bank and asking for a $75,000 loan to buy a truck, that is just crazy to me. The cost of living here is pretty low, and you can get a nice small house for $60,000 to $80,000, so the thought of paying $75,000 for a truck is just madness to me. This is how I see it, now is the time for the consumer to dictate how much they are willing to pay for any vehicle. These manufacturers have huge teams that do market research to ser how much consumers are paying. They'll know how low they need to go in order for us to start buying cars again. If everyone would hold the line and not buy at these prices I can almost guarantee you that average prices for trucks would come down to $40k. That's why prices are coming down so slow, they want to see how much they can gouge us for and still make the most profit from us.

I purchased a new 2023 Ram 2500 Power Wagon with the option 2 package, sunroof, blind spot detection etc., and the truck MSRP was a ridiculous $83265.00. I brought another dealer offer to my local dealership and they matched it. Reduced the price to 67,265 plus taxes. Even that was crazy for a 3/4 ton, but they also gave me $40,000 for a 2020 Chevy Trail Boss 1500 LT. that was in perfect shape. They have plenty of room to drop the prices....

Ford made the digital dash and 12” infotainment screen standard on all trims. So yeah, I don’t see much changing here. Prices will continue to increase. Instead of making changes to get prices to drop they went the other way to increase them. They are using the excuse that everybody is ordering their trucks with all the bells and whistles so they have decided to make them standard.

Rubbish. I work as a carpenter, and I've been in the trade for many years. Back in the day, trucks were practical for work. But nowadays, they're not so great. They've become too tall and overly fancy. What we need is a simple truck with a bed at a convenient height, easy to access for grabbing tools and equipment. Unfortunately, I doubt that a new tradesperson starting out could afford such a truck. These days, it seems like they're more suitable for those making KZitem videos about trucks, given how many of them are just sitting on dealer lots.

If people buy all these things and overextend themselves it may happen again though.

I felt ripped off when I bought a 2020 4WD used with 40K miles, but in excellent condition 18 months ago, but the same pickup new today is double the price that I paid for the used one. The dealers in my area are not offering any real significant discounts on most new trucks, but their lots are overflowing. The price crash is coming, but is not here yet--it will be. Many new car dealers today are surviving only because of their service department business. One dealer in my area laid off nearly all of their salespeople, but have hired 5 additional mechanics--people are repairing the vehicles that they own and the service department is always backed up 7-10 days on appointments, even with the extra mechanics that they have hired.

How long you think that 6 will hold up? I give it 12 to 20 months.

These trucks have been gouged by almost 50% since 2018, which was the year i bought my current Ram Longhorn ($49k brand new). That's an absurd rise in cost. Total greed! There will issues from this for years to come.

I bought a '21 GMC Sierra AT4 new. The discounted price was $57k. With the same equipment now for a '24 model, it's $75,000!!! Almost 20-grand in 3 years.....Totally unacceptable price increases!

They are really out to lunch. I bought a 2500 6.7 cummins with 70.000 Kms on it , for 29000$ in 2014. The truck was a 2011, No def needed, and I still use it every day. I have over 600 thousand KM on it and I regularly maintain it. Why would I spend that kind of money on a new one thats going to be less reliable, and cost a fortune to repair.

Marking a truck up 100% then offering a 20% discount is still a good deal for the dealership

This is why I love buying a demo. One of my local Ford dealerships uses XLT Powerboosts as demo's then sells them for $10-13k off. Bought my loaded 302A $67k MSRP Powerboost for $55k with only 1,825 miles on it.
