Hi. I'm a child protective services social worker and it's so heartwarming to hear that your parents were foster parents and have helped many kids. To this day, it can be difficult finding foster parents who are caring - I just love to hear that your parents were able to share their home and love to the children in need. Thank you for sharing!!

81 baby.... never had a bedtime lol. Speaking of camp, where I'm from in nova scotia, overnight camp isn't a huge thing. When I used to watch bug juice in my early 20s, I was so jealous and wish I had gone to camp. At 23 I got a job at a 7 week summer camp in PA, where is a huge industry. Seriously out of the movies! Worked there for 5 years and had the time of my life. Campers ranged from 6 to 17 and pretty much all of them go their entire childhood and it's such a wonderful tradition!

Back in the day. I had no summer bedtime up until 2weeks before school starts back. In the summer we would get dropped off at the library, community center, or we would just walk the neighborhood all day. Also the Boys and Girls club was a safe space to hang out indoor/outdoor activities, pool, and they would schedule field trips to water parks, zoo, arcade, skating rinks.

adobo is pretty basic. marinate meat in lots of garlic, soy sauce crushed black pepper and a bit of sugar a few hours if not overnight. boil the life out of it then add vinegar and bay leaf. remove the meat from the sauce and then fry it. return it to the sauce ( that was reduced to a viscous consistency) simmer a bit then serve.
