What people keep missing is, that she definitely did change within those three years. Before, she didn't hide in the closet. Now she does. Her anxiety got worse. Yes, she became very good at the guitar but the rest went worse.

Great video! My only take that's different is how I categorize Bocchi as an anime, because I don't think it's a Music Anime so much as a _Band Anime._ Sure the music's important, can't be a band without it after all (unless you're K-On), but with Bocchi, the music is a reflection of Bocchi herself. Guitar, Solitude, and the Blue Planet. "I am all alone, stuck playing a never-ending solo, desperately hoping someone finds me!" That Band: "God I hate how generic that song just was. It doesn't even sound like it came from musicians, but a glittery, chintzy, soulless factory." If I could be a Constellation: "I've found my band, the Place Where I Belong, and I love it. Please just let me stay here with you, no matter who shines brighter once we're stars." (Also, it's basically a love song that, given the lyrics, sounds like Bocchi confessing to Kita, by making Kita sing _her own confession._ And that's just the Bocchiest thing I can imagine)

You are probably right on that one 🤔 but as I said, my understanding of music is limited at best 😅 so I'm bound to miss nuance like that. Oh and thank you for the compliment ✌️

@@addedcheese Yeah, no worries! And I'm not that good at music either, but I do understand how language works. I'm an English Major, so being able to see lyrics translated for both literal meaning as well as contextual meaning, alongside a list of Japanese slang, symbolism, and the like, and any essay on the meaning of the lyrics basically writes itself. Compare that to a song like _Champagne Supernova_ by Oasis, which was written to be trippy, and has no meaning but whatever the listener pulls from it. Or _Imagine_ by John Lennon, a song about peace and love and harmony... and socialism, without ever actually saying socialism. Because back when John Lennon wrote the song, everyone loved the ideas that Socialism brought to the table, but lost their minds at the name "Socialism," because they couldn't for the life of them remember that it's not just a different brand of Communism. So those are two songs that are at opposite ends of the spectrum between meaningless and meaningful, and Bocchi's music is in the middle, leaning closer towards _Imagine,_ because it's all personal in its meaning.

Speaking of the names, Bocchi's name is also the name for a guitar brand of parts and accessories. Gotoh. I didn't realize it until I saw Gotoh on my tuners when I was changing my guitar strings. I had a good chuckle.

The quartet of characters are just the perfect group lol. They could be thrown anywhere and they'll work. Honestly, I also watch lots of feel good anime but this one just hits different. Chainsaw Man is great too but honestly, shows that are too 'dramatic' or 'serious' ain't for me nowadays.

I totally get what you are saying. Sure nitty gritty serious stuff is cool and fun from time to time. But calm, wholesome stuff that makes you feel good is where it is at

@@addedcheese Well, RomCom is great too but the often times annoying protagonists become a deal breaker for me. It wasn't always like that but, after watching a lot of them, you get a little desensitized from their copy and paste personality traits, which is more often than not extremely bland.

@@Sei003 yea, I tend to try and find something a little unorthodox in the genre if I'm fully paying attention to it and I've noticed getting older that stuff like highschool romcoms really don't do it for me which is part of the reason for switching to more slice of life
