It's ok in UK, especially in a field, but remember kids, in Europe, think twice before you swing anything into the ground. You never know when you'll find either army's unexploded ordinance.

Well depends where you dig in the UK, north west near some of the old ship yards best not kick anything metal the size of a thermos on the beach, especially round the sand banks and dunes we used to test fire munitions into them.

There's probably a roman villa under that field (going by the burnt stuff and lead). Wouldn't be the first time they find one going by those clues. There was one where they uncovered a large one, and it had a huge wolverine like claw mark across the main room's mosaic from the plowing. It was abandoned, because local government didn't have enough money for their luxury cars. What was that saying? Pile of gold under their ass, but if it's not money they can steal, it might as well be tin.

Chigg actually usually digs most iron... not so much around sites overwhelmed with iron but definitely in open fields. I'm thinking the order of the things that were dug, either got mixed up in (post) editing or was maybe edited out of order on purpose to maybe add a little suspense(?)

He has an art to his style of detecting. He's knowledgeable and maybe not completely or on all things new or old but when he spends his time detecting and he finds clues he can come to some form of determination on if how or when there was some activity there. If you seen a lego floor, half a lego wall some lego windows and a bunch of legos on the floor you could not with certainty but you could determine someone built a lego house and the lego house got smashed in Roman times hahaha. It all just pieces of a puzzle that may have no answer to or completely random or could be a big discovery.

In some places around big old towns in the UK, you can find a lot of smalls because they cleaned out the middens and then fertilized the fields with "hoooman" waste. Where I live they built seawall defences and reclaimed land from soil and waste carted in from London. So you can find all sorts of bottles and broken Victorian pottery along the Thames Estuary.
