I have the original 8-string Taylor. My first baritone 😊

I remember I tried this guitar as a teenager without money about 20 years ago an was so excited, never heard a guitar sounding so HUGE with so much SPARKLE. When I wanted to buy it years later I found out it was not available anymore.. Now I am so thrilled there's a new edition. Thank you for this inspirational review with your thoughts about the peculiarities about going 8-string and your fine playing.

Yes yes, we all love Cooper, but may I just say, Chris, this is probably one of the best demos I've heard from you. You really knocked it out of the park and should be proud of that one

Yes Chris, always a treat to hear Cooper, and you created a new word to boot! I now have a clear musical goal… to attain the revered status of “Cooperness”!

Mine is the mahogany and black wood iteration from Taylor. I love it. If you tune down an octave the top 4 strings are then the same as a ukulele.

I've had mine since 2012 or 13 and I use it all the time. Growls with aggression when pushed, has a mellow thump when fingerpicked. Sits out of the way or vocals or other guitars in a mix... and it confuses the heck outta other players.

That video was a concert in my living room! That guitar was Chris’s and “Coopoer’d”! Great presentation on a guitar I’d never heard before. Boogie on an Barrie.

I have the 2016 6 string version in hog/Blackwood. I made up a chart of what keys I could play open and caped all the way to the 5th fret. That really helped learn this guitar and what it could do. Finding a capo that worked with this guitar took a while. The Taylor capo turned out to work better than Khyser or Schwab.

Sounds amazing. Would have been perfect to hear a Taylor 300 series standard 6 string right after for a comparison

Yikes. I was completely satisfied with my 6 strings and a few ukes and then you guys play this 8 string and I find myself yearning for that low rumble and that octave ring. Guitar addicts should not watch this channel or they will end up with more guitars then they have room for. Cooper that first song was out of this world.

when are they going to build a 326 cutaway electric baritone 8 string builders edition? what would they call it? 326cebbe8?

I tried this guitar when it first came out. The strings are a heavy gage and with the neck width it was hard to play chords.

Wonder how a mahagony parlor or 3/4 guitar with same string and neck assembly from a baritone will sound. It's like you put a capo on the body with low end only through pickup.

Does Alamo Music still operate the store in Austin? Does Taylor make a non-baritone 8 string version of this guitar?
@AlamoMusic
Жыл бұрын
Our Austin store is alive and well, although for now it is only a piano gallery! And as of right now, the only 8-string is a baritone in the standard lineup. I'm sure they'd make a custom standard tuned 8-string though...

Amazing sound!!! Is this heavier to play, I mean, even more strength needed than a 6 string even with .013 strings?

As an eight string, does that make it a jumbo mandolin?

Not sure if you’re joking but no. The middle two strings are just doubled like they would be on a 12 string.

Can remove the two extra strings and play it like a regular baritone 6 string? Worried the string spacing would be weird if so.

Maybe silly question, but could use keep the octave strings off and use this as a 6 string? Or would that be bad for the tension on the neck over time?

It's tuned down a perfect 4th. The added depth adds some resonance, I guess, but overall seems to detract more than it adds in terms of overall musical appeal. The oscilloscope thing in the background during the demoes continues to be extremely distracting

I haven’t seen a guitar Cooper can’t make sound like a million dollars. Instead of 100% focus on the guitars here - if you go 85-90% on the guitar for sale and then add 10% chord/guitar instruction - would be amazing!👊🏽
