“Mississippi River” is a hilariously descriptive deckname, because of the river’s many tributaries and distributaries. Every single cascade spell leads to one singular line of play (tributaries), which then branch out into many individual spells (distributaries). 😂

I don't think it should have. Flusterstorm should've been cast to counter the creative techniques. But the opponent didn't cast it for some reason. That said, 2 boarding parties and a sweet gum would've still been a strong board state. The opponent just didn't seem like the strongest player in this match.

Tbf also though I don’t think there was a world where Phil was supposed to keep demonstrating with 2 copies of creative technique already on the stack and the Chain going just so he doesn’t get blown out by some mizers MBTs of Flusterstorms that likely would have been cast already if the opponent had them(at least flusterstorms should have been)

I think the deck could use something like Annoyed Altisaur as another source of a cascade spell that might theoretically start up the engine. 42 lands is absolutely bonkers, and I understand why, but I think you could cut a couple for a couple more cascade creatures of relevant costs, of which there is at least one as I mentioned.

The opponent not playing batterskull wasnt a misplay, they had Thalia at that time, and where you had the extra mana for the few free noncreature spells you cast, your opponent was tapped out. Dont know why they didnt activate the Mindbreak Trap tho. Granted, it only hits spells and you still had a cascade trigger waiting to resolve so even if they used it to get rid of the initial and copy Creative Technique plus Malestorm wanderer, the floating cascade still might have turned it around regardless.

the tibalt throws package seems like it should just be maindeck (possible 4 and 3) over some number of lands and maybe the spiders/emrakul. the consistency doesnt take much of a hit since the only fizzle state that's added is trickery into trickery in a deck with lots of other redundant spells. Then in exchange you get to be faster and more resilient to discard. It's not even that much worse into counters other than force of negation since you can still refire from the graveyard on the turn you would be going off with creative technique anyway. it would also open up lines such as trickery on thoracle against doomsday, or rerolling thalia off only 2 mana like sandstone-needle or gemstone-mines + untapped-land which would go along way in adding agency.

Why 42 lands? Feels like “only” having 38 or 40 lands but with a higher density of 6 mana cascade cards seems like it would be good? Would be interested to hear if there was any specific math on that. I guess it gives you room to just cut gemstone caverns and similar post-board.

Definitely a rough showing with all the fast UB decks that can present a fast clock while constraining resources. Counters and discards be ground out but when the opponent is reanimating Atraxa or casting doomsday the power of redundancy/casting the odd fatty as plan B isn't enough. The only worse matchup is UR delver who knows to waste the red lands....

40+ lands seems a bit much, given that you only need like 3 lands in play. Playing like 30lands gives you more slots for random cascade spells, I guess. And having like 30cards in your deck that all basically win the game once you got 3 lands seems pretty good for these topdecking situations you had e.g. in the first game. Also another Emrakul, so you can do the silly thing of sacing one to the legend rule shuffeling creative techniques back in the deck so you can keep going, which you probably don't need, but still😅

I played with it and it was the worst play experience of any deck I've ever played (even though I crushed with it), there were almost no decisions to be made and the games run themselves. I only ever boarded in the Throes+trickery plan, I think Crab is a trap, usually if you can channel it, you can just cast throes anyway. Pyrokinesis is the only other spell I ever felt like I might want. Even had the misfortune to play vs the mirror XD. I don't think it's too powerful at all, but I do think it creates a miserable experience for everyone involved, which is in some ways far worse!
