I really appreciate Janey's acknowledgement of not having money or time (especially money) to do everything at once. It's real-world gardening and reminds me to chill out when I think of all the things I need/want to do in my garden. BTW, I'm in Texas. It's blazing hot here, too. Currently, the weather is forcing me to cool my jets, so to speak.😅

Janey regarding your driveway..... I see it as a giant racetrack for your girls to ride their bikes around and around.....the reason is that when I was a kid we lived beside a boulevard which provided us with hours of SAFE bike riding and our mothers never worried about cars running us over. As a bonus for several years there was a racetrack at one end of the boulevard where stock car races were held once a week and the rest of the time we rode our bikes around it because it was paved!!! It provided all day entertainment for the whole neighbourhood of children and our mothers always knew where we were.

Janey, again I am from Oroville now living in south Central missouri. My poor home town of Oroville has been on fire for days and the heat doesn't help. Our weather hasn't been bad here, usually in the low nineties but will get hotter and more humid soon. Yesterday was a beautiful breezy 82. But we did have a thunderstorm come through two days ago that took down lots of trees and branches so there is that. I still love California, heat and all. Hope to see you again next April on our next trip hone!

Good Morning, Hi Janey. Love your channel. I'm in zone 7 high desert (Idaho), but still learning tons from you too. Another driveway question(yeah, I know) how about throwing compost on it instead of tearing it out. You're going to add compost anyway because, as you've shown in previous videos, plants love it!I follow a landscaper and gardener and she does this at her garden center store. Just a thought. Happy gardening❤.

I totally think that a black and cream stick striped fabric awning would look so amazing! I think it would look so cute and add a lot of charm as opposed to the metal ones but I totally get that your heat is insane there so you’d probably have to replace it every two years but it would look soooo cute!

Good day. I know that yes you may not have fires in your area however it is dry and there is almond tree farms and all it takes is a freak lightning storm. I have seen it happen in my area and when I grew up on a farm in farm country it has happened as well. As well as all it takes is a silly person whom smokes and instead of keeping the cig butt in the car/truck decides to throw it out the window the puff, fire. So all this said we all are prone to fires. Love your channel and your gardens. Have a wonderful rest of your day.

I love your driveway. I have lived all my adult life on a property that is landlocked. That means whoever comes in first leaves last. There are many times when my daughter worked late that I would have to stay up and move my husbands car out onto the street until she pulled in and then I could pull him in behind her. Otherwise come 6 o’clock in the morning my daughter, or I would be up moving cars.

Greetings from super hot and humid N. Florida. Lately, I’ve been dawn to 8 am gardening, drench soaked with sweat most of that time. Has anyone tried the “Laura Edition Augers” from Garden Answer? Can you prune right before a heatwave? I did, because my Feverfew and butterfly bush were struggling already in 105-107 heat. We are 118 today and around 110 for the next 6 days. After that more 105-107 indefinitely. Did I kill my standard size Butterfly bush by pruning it back to 1 foot tall? It's in full sun, first year in the ground.
