The funniest part is you can always look back in hindsight and realize it's not that big of an upset or a surprise, it's the build up, betting odds and media that always makes it that way. I saw like three videos where people pointed out that statistically, by the numbers, Strickland is better than Adesanya in basically every striking category and kinda just ignored them because they didn't fit my prediction of the fight and even looking back at OMalley vs Aljo everyone was saying "this feels like part of the storyline, it feels like it's just destined to happen for O'Malley" and boom.

This is why i Love this sport so much. I followed football/basketball/baseball growing up & played them all. But i got tired of how they hit this point where you basically understand a outcome when a game gets to a certain score depending on how much time is left in the game, you can pretty much determine how slim any chance of a comeback is.. but not in MMA. It's legitimately the most exciting sport because anything can happen.. even going into the fight, we can say oh Izzy's like the lakers in the early 2000's who's beating everyone and yet Strickland comes out and shocks the world. That's why martial arts is the best thing ever. *The main thing the UFC needs to do in our current era is: More of what they did around Sean O'malley's performance. Because i think PPV worked in the early 2000's but nowadays it will just never be what it used to. So the UFC needs to go more the direction of other sports where they air the sport to the world but they still do a huge pay to go to events. Like football, etc. The UFC is and will loose $ on PPV nowadays not working & that wont ever change with the tech capabilities we now have. So might as well focus on getting the most eye's on the sport in general. *We have to change these lame media day press conferences that have gotten so stale and bland. Same as the ultimate fighter.. The contender series is the best thing going so far. Hopefully the UFC will go in the right direction. There is endless potential in this amazing sport. It's so exciting. *I wish the momentum was better and there was more consistent action instead of such spaced out events where some of the best athletes fight MAYBE once a year/they nit pick over the "rankings"/ there could be so much more events to keep the momentum flowing in this sport. Fighters shouldn't waste their prime being barely active but constantly wearing themselves out in the gym, weight cuts making it impossible for some to be more active. *Lastly can we please make a Ton More MMA video games! Of all sorts of types & different styles. It has so much potential for making some of the best video games!

I’ve said it before, but we really need to stop being so set on certain outcomes as fans. This isn’t DBZ where you got power levels and everything is set in stone, I do agree with certain matchups you can use mma math but in the highest levels anything goes. Styles make fights, and you never know what someone is willing to do in order to improve and get the win. It’s also a mistake in my opinion to be so set on the traditional ways and only believe those methods works and nothing else, it’s called martial arts for a reason. Everyone has holes they can exploit, doesn’t matter the style (and from what I’ve seen, it’s usually the weird/unique style that wins a lot of the time). Sean beating Izzy i did not see coming at all, I have to admit. But it just goes to show how wild this sport is.

Aljo not the best chin, cuts tons of weight and omalley was looking hella sharp and fast in training, has tim welch in his corner and knew who he was going to fight well before he was in training camp. And with strickland hes honestly been underrated and his willingness to just straight up bring it to adesanya who hasnt had the best striking defence or boxing in general, relying on leg kicks to do work really got him the win, look at what jan did to him and pereira in both fights before getting countered and knocked out

I should've bet on these "upsets" because every single time i've gotten them right (least all major ones). I have genuine experience grappling (HS Wrestling) and the difference it makes is exponential. The issue i surmise with the community is that they dont have genuine refined knowledge, some of them have never wrestled a day in their life, or lifted a weight, or at least shadowboxed. Their is just something intuitive about it all, once you dedicate yourself to combat, you shall understand. Consider this, throughout all studies of war has it ever been possible for a field commander to simply attack enemy territory? No, plans had to be drawn up, reconnaissance had to be done, nothing was ever given. These dorks just want to keep autoresolving, no critical thinking is found within them.

People counted out Sean because he got starched by Pereira, who has one shot power. I think Seans team was just aware of the weaknesses in izzys game. Both have about the same frame and Sean while not looking so good throughout his career has been training with elites leading up to this like Chimaev and Pereira.

My takeaway from all these upsets is that the UFC and its fans have started to overvalue a fighter's wrestling pedigree when attempting to do MMA math. Khabib made us all think that wrestlers are just OP in MMA but in reality he's just a next level master of his technique whereas even accomplished wrestlers who are simply not as expert, like Islam or Funky or Aljo, can be nullified by the right balance of endowments and aptitudes.

I actually dont think its been very hard to predict most major fights. I think ive been wrong on only a handful of them. I think people juat "analyze" the wrong way. They oversimplify and dont look at all the factors in combination. Take Omalley vs Sterling for example. People over simplified it as "amazing grappler vs trash grappler". So they were shocked at the way it went down. But if you had actually studied things you would know that Sterling is actually really bad at takedowns in general and relies a lot on guys making a mistake in positioning to get them down. And you would also understand that length plays a huge part in grappling success. So you could know that there was a good chance the longer Omalley would make it hard to get a takedown. And coupled with Sterlings already suspect takedown ability, which was usually only successful againat smaller guys, you might even predict he cant take omalley down at all. And then of course you could assume if its a striking game then omalley would win. You can do this with most big fights and generally be right. But 99% of people, even experts, just go off of generalizations about fighters rather than really looking at hiw and why their fights go the way they do.

Its pyscological like when in hockey 20 years ago if you were down 3-1 in a series it was over. But now because teams have overcome a 3-1 deficit since then it's not a done deal to lose anymore. In UFC since Omally tkod Sterling now its understood that a grappler can be overwhelmed with hard aggressive striking. It's pure aggression and a kind of barbarism that's my opinion. Moving forward striking will become harder to overcome.

MMA Math, and mma media consensus drives bad picks. Consider taking the human element into making picks, DDP had nose surgery before his fight with Bobby, gas tank not an issue anymore. Izzy had all the dog stuff come out, and had Kape destroy him and city kickboxing in the press conference, he was broken mentally. Your Content has grown on me, brother! Keep it up! The LT-Curse is everything if put to good use. Please pick Makhachev in his fight with Chucky Olives and I can die a happy man ^^

Strickland proved he is a world-class striker. I need a couple more fights from him with that same striking excellence, but he is on his way to be the best striker in the world.

Consider this: what if fights aren’t impossible to predict, rather you are just bad at predicting them.

Sean ko aljo was easy to predict a sniper VS a guy with the worst striking defense lol. Same with gaethje who just smoked fiziev and Poirier who struggled standing up against Chandler. Justin has definitely surpassed Dustin as a striker since their last fight.

It's fighting. Fighting is unpredictable. That's part of the lure of it.
