It is the drivers who makes I-45 dangerous. Speeding, texting while driving, last minute change of lanes to make an exit and the list goes on. The drivers who are reckless and impatient are the dangerous ones. The highway doesn't move at all. It sits while everything else is moving. So the problems are those who are reckless and careless on the highway. Period. I've had close calls of have serious accidents due to some idiots driving too fast or reckless for no apparent reasons. I won't have to use I-45 much longer cause I'm changing job location closer to my house which is 10 mins away. I don't have to use the interstate to go anywhere. Just down the streets. Too many silly folks out there on the highways who shouldn't be driving at all with all the road rages, drunk driving and texting while driving and so forth. I just don't see how they do it and get away with it. Just insane and mindblowing if you ask me.

You can tell who drives 45 all the time by what lane they get in and when they move over and when they move back. When you can ride in the right lane and when you can't, ie Quitman. Get off the phone, pay attention. Don't follow to closely and go fast when you can slow when you need to. I got rear ended on 45, the only accident I've ever had. The lanes are too narrow, a lot of the highway doesn’t have much of a shoulder to divert to in order to avoid an accident several miles of concrete barriers on either side of the highway. I think a big problem with 45 is how many overpasses there are between beltway and downtown. I see it constantly, people speeding and then when you get to the top of the overpass - traffic is nearly stopped - and cars start slamming their brakes and accidents happen. You don't need to be intoxicated to be at risk either - any time there's traffic and people tailgating it's a recipe for disaster. Maybe that stretch just need to be elevated in the future, I doubt widening it will resolve the safety issues.

You feeling lucky boy? Try traveling on this stretch of terrifying Texas roadway on a Friday at 4:00. If you make it to the other end (alive) buy a lottery ticket. 😳🤞🙏👀

We need speed per lanes law. Too many people driving slow in the fast lane and too many people driving fast in the slower lanes.

The worst. More cops stopping these crazy drivers and speeding motorcycles!

The speed limit is too high and people play on their phones. No cops ticketing because it's too dangerous. Everyone wants to speed until its them or their family who is maimed and killed. People are selfish and ignorant behind the wheel.

a few months ago I saw a video on the news of a group who protested and subsequently put a stop on the I45 expansion project due to " racist history of the highways" I think they need to see this.

It's not the highway that's causing a the fatalities, it's the people driving on it! Put more police on that stretch and start enforcing the law. Speeding, unsafe driving, distracted driving tickets etc

Improve public transportation to the point we don't need cars anymore. An infrastructure rebuilt can be done to get people out of cars and on to clean, cold and fast trains.

It’s the stupidity of grown adults and lack of enforcing speed limits by law enforcement and DPS is the problem and will continue to be. Texas highways are a do what thou wilt and anything goes type of driving putting young new drivers at risk for fatalities. It’s a shame and it’s all over the place and something needs to be done! No one gets pulled over for speeding because it’s not the cops priority especially when the damn highways are being rebuilt it has caused a death trap! There should be a highway task force for DRUNKS, SPEEDERS, and just plain STUPIDITY!
