He is a very big inspiration to me. I’m 37 and finally entering sobriety after being an addict my entire adult life. He gives me hope that I can still do it and have a life worth living at my age with how much I’ve wasted.

I can relate on some level with Brandon. I've been sober since 2021, and my life just keeps getting better and better. I wish there was an easier way to show how awesome sobriety really is to those still stuck in addiction. I am starting a class in August to become a Certified Recovery Specialist and I hope I am able to help as many people as possible. Recovery and sobriety is truly a blessing and the best "high" of an addicts life once they finally "get it". ❤

Never too late. I changed my life at 32. It took me 7-8 years to overcome depression, drugs, and alcohol, also being overweight and stuck on minimum wage to unimaginable success, great health, and happiness in marriage. Stay Uncommon!

Mark - so awesome you brought him on to share his story. Just goes to show that it's never too late to change and improve yourself, amazing stuff. So crazy- when you asked the last question, "What do you still give too many fucks about today?" Literally - before he spoke, my answer was identical "What do other people think about me?" So wild he said the same thing, and made me realize this video showed up for me at just the right time. Brandon, if you happen to see this comment - you did amazing, you're doing amazing - and thank you for all the insight you have to offer as a result of your experience. Much love and keep up all the good work

F*ck, Brandon's story hit home with me, as i stopped using alcohol recently after growing up under an alcoholic father. He is doing so well and is able to make the world a beter place. Two things stood out, the relaps trigger of resentment, and the qoute about the magic being in the action we avoid. Time to forgive and activate :) Love the show, love the books :)

This was my first time watching a podcast without doing another thing at the same time. I am already on sobriety and trying to quit (excess) coffee and sugar as an escape and put my life on track. The episode speaks true to the heart, I read Mark's original article in 2015 and I think I should re-read it, and read the book (The Art of) but for now, I congratulate you for being such a great human being on making people a much better version of themselves. Congratulations.

Never give up. I got clean at 31 at which I had struggled with all drugs (mostly opioids) for over 13 years. I definitely could only get to this point my the grace of God and help from family and friends. Also getting out of environment I was in saved my life. If I was still there I probably would be dead right now.

Thank you Brandon. It’s really impactful to hear about your life and all its twists and turns. I’m not a drug addict, but I do struggle with fitting in and being productive member of society. I really like what you said about how you can hit rockbottom anytime you want to stop digging. I think sometimes I’m trying to dig towards the bottom, so things can get bad enough and I’ll make a change. But I’m in the cycle of getting better and then heading back down again. I’ve gotten off the bottom a lot of times, but after that, I’m not really sure what to do so I had for the bottom again. Thank you for your story of redemption. It gives me a lot of hope.

I love Novak so much. I remember listening to him on Radio Bam sometimes, but the way that Bam would talk about him when he relapsed made me so sad. It's plain to see that Bam isn't looking too hot, and I wish he would realize that he could be better in life if he just emulated Novak, if only so he can stop being a menace to society.

At the beginning, I didn't think that it was going to be so helpful video; actually, at first he was scary to me because of what he did with his pants. But at the end of the video, I loved his courage to be frank with Mark and even saying somethings that were opposite of what Mark insisted on in his essays. Yeah, he admitted he was not ready to be vulnerable in a romantic relationship, and Mark respected that(I think). By the way, sorry to judge you by your pants.

I've been homeless for just about the whole week and after recovering from Influenza A in a general hospital they got news about me stripping half naked in front of a policewoman in which I don't remember at all. My memory may be blurred from everything that has happened last week since I became homeless and I'm never drunk or high on something. I'm now in a mental ward because of that alleged report.

I went on vacations to Baltimore over a dozen times. I'm 4 years sober from just all hardcore drugs an booze. I still smoke tree because I have many mental disorders. Also, I don't want to take antidepressants like Paxal, Zoloft, and Seraquil. I will never take that family of medications or other pills.

Nonsense to say Jackass wouldnt be made today. There was just a new one that made alot of money. Have you seen the nonsense thats on KZitem? It has nothing to do with "woke" or anything. Just a stupid culture wars talking point. It can absolutely be done. As long as its not mean. Just like Jackass was. Thats the issue. It has to be done for the right reasons.
