My favourite album is Tom Jones Live In Las Vegas (at the Flamingo) 1969 What a great album! Great songs like Hard To Handle/ I can´t Stop Loving You/Danny Boy (the best version of this song he recorded and many more. Great musicians like Chris Slade on drums (later AC/DC) John Rostill (ex Shadows) Big Jim Sullivan on lead guitar and a powerful orchestra. The sound is fantastic on this live recording.

I grew up in Las Vegas.. We would see him in the Flamingo showroom in the summer of 1969. His set was all Otis Redding, Wilson Pickett Sam & Dave, Beatles covers, and.. His own material. I was knocked out as a 12 year old kid. His warm-up was Myron Cohen, who took me back stage to meet Tom ! Later.. He was contracted at Caesars Palace. My Dad was a Maitre D.. Hence the reason we saw so many great shows in the 60s and 70s in Las Vegas ! 🎵

Thanks.. What an experience. Actually, my first time to see Tom was the summer of '67. He was really my first memorable show.. Elvis at the International , his opening night July 31st 1969 was another huge show that we were there for ! At that time, my father was the 2nd Maitre D of The International, so everything was comp ( free ).. front and center ! Saw " The King" 4 more times up until 1972. Tom and Elvis were great friends and would visit each other after each other's shows, and Dad took care of Elvis often in the Imperial Room.

Hey Bo; Like the Hall of Fame Hockey wall. Tom Jones, an iconic performer & entertainer. With a career that took off in the 60's & kept growing. A large collection of hit records which still receive airplay today. Also Tom's TV show had many great guest stars. Good video. Tina & Pat!~

Modest collection Bo. TJ certainly had a huge fan base and still does to this day. For a quick second I thought that the Funny Familiar Forgotten Feelings album had a cover of Detroit Rock City on it. It says Detroit City without the Rock. Some nice pressings Bo~ Rob/Boston

That would have been funny. If it had been Detroit Rick City, that is. I think Bobby Bare did the most recognizable version. Personally, my favorite Bare song is The Winner.

Outstanding collection, Bo. His Decca 45s are very common here in the UK, the LPs you showed less so. Big fan also. What a powerhouse and performer. Favourite clips are the ones of him with Janis, Jerry Reed, CSNY (!) and going for it on stage. Cheers, Paul (PS with you on the Small Faces - those 45s aren't going anywhere)

I have a few TJ 45s too. Some are Japanese pressings. As for the SF? That’s my favorite group. At least the Marriott era.

Cool to see the US versions of his lps. Thankfully you can still find his UK lps in the £1 boxes as most people will ignore his records as cheesy, more fool them. Another lp I'd recommend is Somethin' Bout You Baby I Like from 1974 where he does a great cover of Dr Johns Right Place, Wrong Time...very funky! Its on YT of course. Cheers Nige

There one Tom Jones track you need. The b-side to his ‘A Minute Of You’re Time’ single. The tracks called ‘Looking Out My Window’...it’s a Wilson Pickett style scorcher. I used to drop it when I was a student DJ in 1995. It guaranteed dancefloor mayhem..well worth a quick listen....forget everything you thought you knew about Tom Jones! 😂

@@earheadsix4119 ooh could be. I’m no Tom aficionado! I pretty much stopped at ‘It’s Not Unusual!’ 😂 I’ve got it on a lovely 7” on the Parrot label, it’s pretty easy to find cheap in the U.K. It was pretty heavily sampled in the early nineties which is probably how I became aware!

@@zoo_animal_on_wheels4800 hi Paul. I’m trying to think where I first heard it. Probably one of those CD dj mix comps that were everywhere in the nineties, because I Definately wasn’t digging for Tom Jones b-sides back then! 😊
