That looks like an electrosocket output jack not just a normal barrel, which is (in my opinion) a major upgrade. It's screwed into the wood, rather than using that little metal device to grab on the wood that's hard to take out, install, and wears loose that the original teles had. But no jack plate means no washer to work loose or plastic to crack, and it's got fewer parts than the original fender as the jack screws directly into it but isn't gonna do the several rotations needed to fall out even if it works loose with the extra thread grabbing onto it. IMO, I'd use it on every side output guitar I could.

For those who haven't played with on a Tele with the string through and top-load bridge options really should get hands on one and try it both ways. Hard to explain how different it makes the guitar. Without the Esquire control wiring this guitar seems more like a LP Jr. (IMHO). There are many wiring mods available for the Esquire that really make it very versatile. My Esquire has a 3-way switch, position #1 is straight to the output jack, no tone or volume controls. Position #2 is normal volume and tone. Position #3 is the Eldred mod which uses a second capacitor to make it sound like a half-cocked Wah-Wah. With position #1 bypassing the volume and tone control I can roll back the volume and wiggle the switch between positions #1 and #2 producing a Stutter/ON-OFF effect. Like I said, just my opinion but I see this Tele much more in the tradition of a Les Paul Jr. This guitar is cool and all with the P90 however the very angry sounding pickup in my Esquire might have a bit of an edge over the P90.

Honestly I'd say it is a little bit too expensive for what it is... MIM, single pup, polyester, Indian Laurel etc, just for the price they could have at least given it a hardshell case or Custom Shop pup. At this point it's really just a glorified Squier. It's nice, but not $1K nice imo. The build quality from Mexico is on par with Indonesia, and with US models you get bragging goodies like Nitro and stuff. I'd pay $700 tops personally, but hey my opinion isn't all that important anyways.

I owned the Jazzmaster for one night (the red one w maple fretboard). Returned it the next morning. Reason I didn't get the Tele (same color as the one demo'd here): The overall cost vs what you're getting. It had the Pau Ferro like this one which almost sold me. It just didn't have the fit & finish I'd expect for the price $1400 CDN, which was what I paid for my American Performer Strat HSS. I love Mexican builds, it was just the hardware seemed low end. For that price, it really, really isn't worth it. It's a basic Tele with one pickup, made with Mexican labor. It should be $800 CDN ($650 US) if we're considering the market value. I must say the Noventa Tele sounded WAY better than the Gibson TV Special I almost bought instead, but I was floored with how cheap the TV Special felt. Another shot at Gibson here - I much, much prefer Fender's burst colors. Rich brown, not orange/yellow like a stained 70's carpet. Pau Ferro looks a lot better on this Tele than Rosewood. Reason I didn't keep the Jazzmaster: It was over the top heavy & I can't seem to think of any additional tones you're getting with 3 P90s. The whole nature of the P90 is...well, two P90s is enough. It just seemed to be ...flimsy despite its weight. It was beautiful to look at, but the tonal diversity wasn't worth the weight & cost. After playing the Tele for a solid hour in the guitar shop, I decided on the Noventa Strat (Daphne Blue, maple fretboard). With two P90s & a 3-way switch, I found it gave you everything a P90 can give you. I put locking Kluson tuners on the Strat, new EB 9.5 gauge strings & replaced the black hardware with chrome hardware. It's my first experience with Kluson-style tuners, and I must say it's staying in tune better than my 4 other other guitars, quite noticeably. I've got a Gibson ES-339 & a Fender Tele Deluxe (Troublemaker Tele) with locking tuners & Schaller roller bridges (no trems at the time of comparison), and the Noventa Strat keeps tune better than both of them (and they're sporting EB 10-46 Strings). I don't like gloss fretboards & the Strat either has very little or none. This guitar was 'just right' - it had just enough tone & quality to justify the very high price.

What a looker, yeah black Noventa and small black guard, it's not an Esquire or Tele, it's unique' and if the 90 is anything like the Gibson, it will have a certain crunch' ...Spinal Tap demo was great with superb tones, nice and shiny for the stage, just prefer a darker fretboard...

Check the setup - that center bridge saddle looks suspect.

I love my Noventa Tele. I was especially pleased to find an electro-socket instead of the usual clonker.

You have to consider Gibson's comparable model is the LP Jr., which costs about the same. Compared to an Esquire, would I prefer this? At this point, I'm more inclined to try this one!

Straight up rock and roll machine! I've got the same guitar, except I was lucky to find a light flamed maple neck and headstock on mine. I love LP Jr. guitars, and this one sounds and plays just as good!!

Another thing Trogly missed was that the blonde and fiesta red ones have maple cap fretboards and Fender hasn’t made those since 68 and 69. Truly unique.

Nice guitar - but what is with the strings passing over the height adjustment screw hole? Something not right there at all, especially where there are options such as the Callam or the latest Gotoh compensated types.

“Tonight I’m Gonna Rock Ya Tonight!” Excellent Spinal Tap vibes! Just one question: Why aren’t they calling it an Esquire.

Can’t go wrong with a p90. I love em! But the first expensive fender I ever bought was a 2004 fender toronado with p90s that was made in US and only about $900 retail. So seeing a stripped down fender MIM for $1k isn’t my idea of a value deal. Especially because Gibson recently released LP juniors and specials with p90s for around $600. A couple years ago I bought a floor model 2019 Gibson dc LP jr with p90 for about $440 and it is by far the best value guitar at that price point.
