If were going to get rid of any player so we can get any better players, is Charlie Blackmon. Having a young Trevor Story and Nolan Arenado, is a perfect left side of the infield for our roster. if we trade Charlie Blackmon, we can get better bullpen pitching, and prospects. If the Rockies want to remain an okay team, they wouldn't get rid of Nolan. Arenado is their best player, and losing him would only mean going down to rock bottom. If the Rockies make the playoffs next season, it'll be a much lower chance in Nolan being traded, or him wanting to leave the team. Nolan has said he wants to be a part of a playoff team. Going back to Charlie Blackmon, their main problem was pitching. Their starting rotation was okay enough to let the offense do their work, but Scott Oberg and Oh were the only pitchers who could actually do something. Wade Davis blew almost every save opportunity he had, so Scott Oberg got the closing spot. then he got injured. The starters also got injured, then following up was an injured David Dahl. If the Rockies trade Charlie Blackmon, they have s chance at getting a prospect(s) and probably a starter or bullpen arm. Thus, Charlie Blackmon being a good trade for the roster. Charlie Blackmon is getting older,and his career is going down, so it'll work perfectly before his retirement.

I would say the Rockies should keep him for another few years and see how well they can build around him, and if it works out then they should keep him as long as possible. If not, they should consider a trade for some younger players or even prospects

My opinion, as a Rockies fan, is the following: Ownership and the front office have refused to invest on the team to build around Nolan and they believe the team is good enough right now to be a contender. That is clear from what they've done this offseason. They were a perfect fit for Grandal, yet they didn't even make him an offer. They need one more good starter, yet they've done nothing. They've set an imaginary salary cap on themselves that makes it impossible to fix the depth issues the team has. They should've signed Grandal and traded for Starling Marte in my eyes, and tried to go after someone like Jake Odorizzi or another 3rd-4th ish starter. Since they've refused, and the team is nowhere near good enough to compete... they SHOULD trade him. But not only him, also Story, Gray, Márquez, Dahl and everyone with value. Ownership doesn't want to spend and is too passive to build a legit contender. The Rockies are doomed and the best era of player development in franchise history is going to be wasted. So yeah, trade him for prospects. If you're not gonna build around him and just say the team is well built, they just need to play better (direct quote from GM Jeff Bridich btw), don't waste our time or Nolan's time. This is so painful as a Rockies fan. I can't even describe it with words.
@MIKELIN8

What you didn't take into consideration is the no-trade clause. Whichever team makes an offer for Arenado would hve to be a team that he would want to play for...one which could prove that they are committed to winning a title.

I think my Phillies won't do it mainly because they'll ask for our best pitching prospect, Spencer Howard. I'd give up our best prospect Alec bohm, who is technically a 3rd basemen who's better at first. But I don't want to give lots of pitching up as it's what were bad at currently

Arenado to the Cardinals for Gorman ,Reyes, Arozerena and Gomber. It gives them a future replacement for Arenado in Gorman. A possible Ace in Reyes If he could stay healthy. A mlb ready outfielder in Arozerena who as of right now has no spot with the Cardinals. And Gomber a good left handed pitcher who could be a solid 4 or 5 but no room with the cardinals especially since they signed Kim(a lefty). I like this trade and think it would work out on both sides. Arenado would go to a contender and the Rockies get a good haul back including a former top 10 prospect and a top 40 prospect in Gorman. The thing that would pull the cardinals away would be there budget so maybe also look for someone to take on Carpenter or Fowler’s contract. Especially Fowler so Tommy Edman could play RF and if Dejong Wong or Arenado get injured Edman can play all of those positions very good. Plus they have a surplus of young outfielders ( Carlson O’Neil Wilson Thomas ) or even Jose Martinez. I would really like this trade and the Arenado Goldsmidt comb would be awesome to watch. 2 of the best at their position on the same field.

The problem with an Arenado trade is that his contract means he's not worth what everyone thinks he's worth. He's owed 234 million dollars through his age 35 season; 7 more years of control. At the standard valuation of 8 million per WAR, he'd have to produce close to 30 WAR over the next 7 years to carry any surplus (trade) value at all. That's not factoring in the player opt out, which is worth somewhere between -10,000,000 and -20,000,000 on that final surplus value calculation. So anywhere between 1-3 more WAR that he would have to accumulate to be worth it. Right now, I have Arenado projected for about 28 WAR over the next 7 seasons using a standard aging curve. I have his value by year at: 5 WAR, 5, 4, 4, 4, 3, 3. That is a pretty aggressive valuation, especially considering he'd be leaving Coors field. And he still doesn't get to the mark he needs to in order to carry any surplus value whatsoever. So, in order for the Rockies to get anything resembling a "good" return on Nolan, they are going to have to kick in a substantial amount of money. In fact, the amount of money they include will be almost exactly proportional to the amount of surplus value they receive back in prospect compensation. If they sent 50 million dollars to whatever team they made the deal with, I believe they would get about 40-50 million dollars in assets back (which is equivalent to one 55 FV hitter or a 55 FV pitcher and a 45-50 FV hitter). Its a very complicated situation for the Rockies and its not going to be easy for them to get a return that their fans will be happy with.

Well have fun either way Colorado, to me this move would say they don’t believe 17 or 18 are repeatable and with the modern baseball is with so much offense and power, finding pitchers who are going to stay confident for 15-20 Colorado starts is going to be tough as hell. In my eyes 17 and 18 were the blue print of how Colorado can be successful but after a crazy 2019 offensive season it has seemed to scare Colorado. I really hate how the poor ‘small market😖’ teams will not commit to a 4 or 5 year run when they obviously have a window ala 2000’s Twins who were just good enough to stay a playoff punching bag. I commend the 2014 and 2015 Royals they struck when the iron was hot spent some money and gave their fans a special few seasons they can look back on.

The Rockies should trade Arenado. The Rangers would be the best suitor for him. The Rangers have the talent and players for Arenado. Losing out on Rendon to a division rival was a big blow to them. The Rangers need their next Adrian Beltre. Arenado's favorite player growing up? Adrian Beltre. I would not be surprised if the Rangers and Rockies made a trade and Beltre was talking to Arenado, convincing him to come to Texas. The Rangers have a new ballpark to open and they don't want to fail in that new stadium. Arenado would be the centerpiece for the Rangers, be their star. If he goes to the Cardinals or Braves, he will be not as big in the organization as the Rangers would put him. Plus Gallo/Arenado would be a great 3-4 in that lineup. The Rangers do have top prospects who are pitchers would the Rockies would love to have, as that's the piece that has buried them since they started in 1993. Brock Burke, Cole Winn, Hans Crouse and Joe Palumbo are top pitchers in the Rangers organization who the Rockies would love to develop as centerpieces for their future.

No. Trade for a good pitcher and sign some decent arms that arent big name guys

They should trade Arenado and Story. They're probably not going to seriously contend for the next few years, and by the time they do Story will be in his 30s and possibly out of his prime.

Damien , True, Arenado's away stats drop off from home stats, but just counting his AWAY stats, 2013 - 2019, vs. all other third basemen's TOTAL stats, he still ranks in the top 7 percent in wRC+. But I'd be surprised he goes anywhere else.

Would it be crazy to trade Correa for Arenado and slide Bregman to short. It'd keep their salary low.

Rockies would have to pay a significant part of Arenado’s remaining deal for that to work. They would have to get Correa + a massive prospect haul.

Coloradans don't deserve such a terribly run MLB team. Its a giant shameful scam, that Mumford and Bridget are running... And the Rockies do not deserve the fans they have. Coors field always has great attendance, but people show up season after season for mediocrity. Until the fans start demanding better from the Rockies in actual action, like not attending games, this team will remain a laughing stock of the MLB always competing just enough for the fans to show up...

But why Nolan? Why not story or Blackmon. He did best of the 3 of them. Saying you should trade the best active 3rd basemen in the league is absurd. Nolan fits in perfectly with Colorado. Also he is young, so trading him for young talent is stupid. Also why braves and cardinals. Why not Boston, where he was considering when he came to Colorado. Raphael Devers is utility, so you can send him to first and have Hanley Remirez as backup. Boston makes more sense than Atlanta or st Louise. You never made a point why it HAS to be arenado. Blackmon is 5 years older than Nolan, andStory is only 1 year younger than him, so what you say about young talent makes absolutely no sense. I know I made a video script with this comment and I’m sorry, but Nolan won gold glove this year, so it was not a wasted season. He did as good as last year, (only a little change in stats) so this is compleatly pointless. Also why not LA, which is said to be a possible place for him to go. This video made no sense, as it was more of a stats video

Blackmon won’t get a return the Rockies need at all. In fact, the Rockies would probably have to give up prospects if they traded Blackmon due to the size of his contract. Story is a possibility, but the market is not nearly as strong. Braves and Cardinals need another bat, Boston is trying to cut payroll. Talk about things that make no sense.

@dawson wright, but I thought you said that story will give the Rockies young talent, and now you saying that he is a possibility. Also, wouldn’t arenado want to go to a team who has more talent (if he were to get traded). I mean, braves and cardinals have talent, but not as much as some teams, like Houston. That would be a perfect team if either story or arenado to be fairly traded to because of Verlander and other pitchers that have down so well this season. Now arenado does not belong in an Houston jersey, but story may fit in. Now this may sound biased saying am a Boston and Colorado fan, but arenado would want to go to a better team. But when arenado took the contract, it looked clear he wanted to stay on Colorado. Looked clear, not is clear. The Rockies had 1 bad season, that does not mean he does not belong. It kills me to say this, but this is like saying if the Yankees do bad in 2020, then Aaron judge does not belong there. What I am saying is you can’t base things off 1 bad season. I’d be on your side if it were say 3 years in advance, but I’m a huge Rockies fan, and it’s because of Nolan (my name is Nolan, and I learned about him when I was 10).
