I feel like Paralives as already had an impact on features we now have in the Sims 4. The Split level tool looks quite similar to Paralives. Also being able to moves door and windows independent from the grid was added after it was known Paralives would have this feature. They have gotten more adventurous with exploring new build mode features, which before they simply stamped as not doable. They might have gotten away with this excuse before but Paralives is showing that it is doable.

i don't like the idea of using paralives as a way for us to force ea to do better - it's not fair on paralives! ea should already be striving to be better with the extensive amount of resources they have on hand (not to mention the amount of negative feedback they get fairly regularly). time after time again, it seems like they simply choose not to because they'll make their money regardless. paralives looks like a good game, and i think we should focus on it as its own entity rather than solely comparing it to the sims 4 as a way to stick it to ea if that makes sense!

Apparently there is grid placement options. Also they said in a youtuber’s livestream yesterday that the music will be copyright free for KZitem videos. I agreee that it’ll be interesting to see how the parafolk interact with all the objects. There is a clip of one sitting on a kitchen counter I think

I was also wondering about the gameplay/animations when seeing how certain things were placed. but I'm honestly super hyped for this game, i've been following it since the beginning. It's so exciting to watch the team grow! not just game developers, but other people who love the sims and simulation style games. they're not just paying attention to what people of the sims community want - they ARE the sims community that wants these things actively themselves. I think that makes a difference in the end result, so I'm stoked.

When Paralives uploaded a video showing the platforms, it was before Sims 4 dished it out. (As far as I recall.) Because I remember that, after that vid drop, suddenly sims threw the platform out. Same thing with the bunk beds. Paralives uploaded a video, Sims suddenly pushed it out. So that's a lot of tea to drink.

I've been obsessed with paralives for forever now. I am too very curious how animations/gameplay works, I know they're using a certain kind of animation that will kind snap to it's environment - can't remember what it's called but you don't have to sit and animate every single thing exactly because the model can tell when it need to hunch etc. This is just my basic understanding. Also just wanna be a bit of a Debbie downer here and fellow reminder: as much as I want paralives to give competition vto the Sims (and so do all of maxis predecessors) if sims drops enough, EA will let it did like sims city 2014 and many others. EA just does this. I don't have much faith in the Sims seeing as sims 5 will likely be on console first or perhaps online only (their CEO Andrew Wilson said this). But as a flagship series, perhaps they actually will give a damn for 2 seconds and remember who lines their pockets.

In a couple of their other videos they show the Paras sitting on kitchen counters, the option to sit on a dresser & the ability for the Paras (if brave enough) to jump off the roof of a house into a pool! So I have a feeling that they are working quite hard to make the way they interact with objects feel quite natural (more human than the sims at least).

They won’t drown if you sell the pool ladders, so that’s a good start 🤣 In TS1, I once drowned my Sim-self, my Sim-parents, and my Sim-sisters because I hadn’t learned the money cheat yet and I sold the pool ladder because I didn’t realize just how dumb the Sims were 😆

I really love the way off-the-grid placement seems to work, the way items are randomly aligned, but I will say when we haven't yet seen a single video involving Para's moving around and doing animations at length, I really don't trust this is the sort of thing you'll be able to do and have it be functional. Like I love the item scaling-- I really think it's a brilliant idea for a life sim to have less objects but just make them more adjustable-- but again, it'll entirely depend on how these customizations will function for the actual paras. I know they have big ideas about these things working, but I'm a little antsy to actually see it in action. Personally, seeing build/buy gameplay isn't interesting to me until they've shown me the limitations or lack thereof in actual gameplay with those items.

@AlexaFaie

Its not built in the clunky resource hungry way the sims team build sims 4. The entire framework for how objects work is just totally different & utilises techniques which have been available in architectural design programs for decades. The sims handles things in a very peculiar way compared to other games out there too, making it way more resource hungry than it needs to be.
@MiloKuroshiro

That's not the biggest problem with resizing. Player routing, animations and interactions tho...
@Daviimariani
3 жыл бұрын
@@MiloKuroshiro I've been a patron of theirs for awhile and it's still early days but because of customizable furniture and different heights of parafolk they're designing an animation system that individually reacts to the thing they're interacting with, whether that be a different animation like hopping up on a chair instead of sitting down normally or just organically snapping to the points they need to actually connect to. Even the early iteration looked very decent for pre alpha so I have faith even if it's not a simple process. I don't remember if that was secret tho I think one of their devs shared that on their Twitter.

I think for the table, it would be nice if there was a number of predetermined slots for each chair when a parafolk is sitting down. Like imagine there is a radius and certain number of chairs you can put around a table based on size, and then your folk pulls up the chair to the closest predetermined slot to sit and eat/do hw etc.

I am only at 3:26 and I am full of equal parts wonder, excitement and pure unadulterated rage. I have spent nearly a thousand dollars on the sims 4 content over the years, I have supported them, vouched for them; Ive given them the benefit of the doubt for years now. Seeing this much possibility in the first 3 minutes of alpha gameplay footage, with features and functions that we have been begging for, paying out the rear for, and being ignored for years about is basic in this game... I am at a loss for words, other than excellent work to this dev team. I can not wait to see where this goes. I may never buy another EA title.....
