Former Met DCI Mike Neville says the Spanish police should have cooperated with Lancashire Police to “flag up all the suspicions” surrounding missing teenager Jay Slater.
“They try to portray them as innocent because they get more information.”
The 19-year-old had travelled with friends to Tenerife to attend the NRG music festival, before returning to holiday accommodation with two men he had met in the early hours of Monday morning.
He called his friend at 8.50am to say that he was lost in the Rural de Teno park with no water and only had one per cent battery on his phone.
Jay’s mother Debbie Duncan said: “Words cannot describe the pain and agony we are experiencing.”
