I had one that was a solid 3 foot turd in a series of 90⁰ elbows. I had the vacuum pulling at the basement and I was putting more than 50 PSI in at the attic. Wouldn't budge. Had to locate where the clog was by drilling holes and checking for water and replace the affected section completely. Never seen one so bad. Rust flakes from the coil had totally compacted in it.

I normally cut the drain line before the p-trap and place a union there. Shoot about 50psi of nitrogen, followed by my vacuum and about 4 pan treatments tablets. I’ve seen a lot of installs with clear p-traps and I’ll probably order a box of those, makes it easier to see that the blockage is completely gone.

Seems to me when you were vacuuming the drain the 2nd time you should have plugged up the vertical PVC because it was acting as the vent and you weren't sucking/clearing past the j-trap. Unless you felt the obstruction was down past the vent.
@andyruse4670
Жыл бұрын
I think the clog pretty much had to have been between the vent and the exit at that point. You saw his little CO2 gun blow the vent pipe out. That dislodged anything in the trap. Though I definitely think he should have cemented that in place, the cap can be loose on a vent pipe, but the pipe needs to be fixed to higher than the internal pan.

I’m not a ac tech but noticed blackish water drips from my secondary line drain outside high on the wall. Started probing it out and all kinds of wet large insect larvae parts and black sludge came out. Cleaned more out with a wire brush and then gently applied squirts of hose water until it ran clean. Man was it nasty. We bought the house 11 months ago and this had to be going on for a long time. I’ve noticed fly’s up here will sneak into the smallest holes to do their business. Never seen anything like it elsewhere.

A little trick i learned from another youtuber that works very well, mix foam Brite (yellow coil cleaner) with water, (3:1, in a water bottle) pour that through the cleanout, allow it to sit for a couple minutes, then vacuum it out. I tested this when we were slower and boy o boy, does it work! You'll clean out gunk that you couldn't imagine would come out of a condensate drain! Also, about 5 years ago, I pulled a clog from a drain that came out in one long, 15' turd! Never have I seen another clog like that before and I hope I never do.

Good persistence in making it a "E GWANA DRAIN" . I usually have good luck in snaking ptrap with stranded wire. I don't have that high powered vacuum that you do. Snaking at tee and flushing drain out usually works for me. If it don't I cut pvc, clean and replumb.

So the reason why the vacuum did not work on the first attempt was because there was an open tee in-line before the actual plugged condensate trap therefore it was only pulling from the open tee and not the trap the follow up should of been to flush the trap with warm water and coil cleaner and add tablets to the evap coil pan !!
