Very reliable car - simply used for commuting. Pandemic stopped the commute and that's why the mileage per annum dropped. I did have it serviced a lot and this helped. Never really used it for family outings and that is why the seats and interior survived. The little kink in the boot is my fault- an argument with a skip on my drive. By the way, you found that sweet I lost ages ago! Great video and pleased what you have done with the car. PS very happy with the Clio you sold me. Cheers!

I had an early 2004 Megane Dynamique. It had 167,000 miles on it when I sold it to the local scrappers for £50 in 2016. There was nothing actually wrong with it just very tired. I'd kept it well maintained for the 8 years I had it with some warranty work on the 1.6vvt engine when I first bought it. Only gremlins I had was the sunroof never worked(not too bothered about that) and the doors were full of water where the seals had failed. It was still on the road last time I checked. I've had 4 cars since.

I had a 2004 mark 2 Scenic, and the oil rings finally let go at 203k miles! I owned the car from 18mths old until 2017. Apart from a turbo pipe, which Renault failed to replace under warranty, instead they decided to put a jubilee clip around the hose to close the split! Which several years later failed so I replaced it myself, and the EGR failing at 70k, everything else was original on the car! Original turbo, clutch, injectors, alternator, all lasted 203K! I absolutely loved that car, and after driving around in a Kia Sedona for 6 years, I recently purchased a mark 3 Grand Scenic! 148k currently on the clock and the 1.5 diesel engine purrs, giving me around 40mpg. This one has a few issues because the previous owner didn't look after it, but I paid £1500 and have sorted the issues myself, so can't complain!

French cars really are a strange mix of average quality, dependability and being a work horse! My Grand Scenic 3 has had a few issues but i still like it! It has never let us down charging around Spain and is a beautiful shape as well. It's comfortable and economical. Yes, i would love a Range Rover, but can't afford to run one. Ran one of the very earliest 03 plate Meganes like this with a 1.9dCi for a while in around 2015 or so. Mechanically faultless and drove so well, so comfortably. Electrics were a tiny bit possessed (the early keyless entry was temperamental etc) but nothing particularly fatal, really enjoyed it. My brother got a really nice 2004 1.9 dci some years back, drove it for a while before it ended as a workhorse in the family company. It worked without too many (mostly company-car related) issues until a worker collided with an oncoming bus. The car was totalled, but the 19 year old chassis and airbags did their job. He broke a few ribs and got quite bruised all over - but not only did he survive, in fact he didn't get any really serious injuries. While I quite liked it before, now I genuinely respect this car.

I say the same about all steering wheel covers .. they all look so tacky and hideous and what is the need... it is plastic (okay, if you have an entry level spec and its not that nice, i can sort of get my head around that) or leather wrapped for a reason, and that reason is so that you can hold it and use it to turn, splash that cash towards a service or something beneficial.

Okay. We have a 2009 manual 1.9 litre diesel Megane, bought new. Cost AUD$22,000 with full leather interior. We service it every 6 months, so less than 5,000 kms in each interval. It has cost us two engine mounts, a starter motor, an electric window motor, and a timing belt. That's it. Paint is in excellent condition. Averages around 5 litres per 100 kilometres. It has been cheap motoring. Not exciting, but wonderfully reliable. Maintenance is the answer???
