Btw, if you want to hide a lot of the flaws inside of the turret of the Italeri M36 Jackson, there are two easy ways to do that. #1. The easiest. make 4 rods from sprue by slowly heating it over a flame like a candle and then SLOWLY stretching the sprue. The faster you stretch it the thinner the result. (if pulling the warmed sprue quickly you'll end up with a thin length that is fantastic for antennas) Or you van buy some Evergreen plastic rod about 1/16" diameter. You need a small circular disc of plastic about 1/8" to 3/16" diameter. The 4 rods get glued to each corner of the turret and to the disc so that the disc is slightly higher than the turret = about half the height of the moulded on machine gun pintle. Those 4 rods and disc are then covered with tissue to simulate canvas. A very light mist of white glue drastically thinned with water will give the tissue some stiffness and make it easier to paint without tearing. You can add acrylic paint to the glue/water mixture so you won't have to paint the tissue afterwards. #2. You can make an armoured cover from sheet styrene for the turret. That cover just had vision slits. You can find images of the canvas supports on the web as well as images of the armoured cover.

The main reasons so many call this kit a dog are: #1a. So many errors including the ammo storage in the rear of the turret. #1b. The road wheels should be solid not open spokes. #2. Lack of details in the open turret especially on the 90mm gun. Btw, and just for interest. The proper designation for these was GMC not tank or tank destroyer. GMC stands for Gun Motor Carriage. The tracks can be made a bit more flexible by carefully scoring them where the grooves are. It does build up to a not too bad looking model and it's a fairly simple build. It's a decent kit for a beginner or youngster and the cost is a lot less than modern kits.

Thank you For watching Steve and thank you for subscribing! The one thing you might find is a downside is that I have a lot of variety on this channel. Instead of picking one type of subject and doing just that I pretty much film the way I live. Some weeks I’m working on model cars or tanks, the next week I might be working on my train layout. I also do a lot of history related studies and travel. So this channel is kind of a “ride along” if you will. I hope you learn some new things here and I hope you find some things inspiring.

Have built a few Italeri Sherman’s and as a result have almost bought their Fury kit a few times. Their Tiger 1 is not too bad nor is their Chaffee. Picked those up as World of Tanks kits. All the best with the M-36. Take care.

Thanks! One of the first builds I did on this channel was the fury kit. If you haven’t checked out please feel free to do so I think it turned out really excellent. A lot of people dog these kits but I find them quite enjoyable and easy to build.

Agreed. Have had a lot of fun with a number of Italeri kits. Just many are not up to par with Tamiya. Though I have found Tamiya older Sherman’s are missing a lot of little details like grab handles on hatches or engine cover plates. I built an Academy Sherman, my Kelly’s Heroes Sherman, and it came with a ton of extras like the grab handles. I was able to to up detail two other Tamiya Shermans with the extras. Did same with their T-34/85, my T-35/88. Was able to up detail two other Tamiya T-35/85s with left over details. The Italeri Tiger late war is a nice Tiger model, some flash but over pretty good! Tamiya packages Italeri Chaffee I think and M3 White Scout car as well.

There's one good aspect about lousy or average Sherman chassis kits. They provide TONS of spare parts for vehicles, diarama's, ect.

That they do. Also A great base to experiment with techniques and differnt types of up- armour/ stowage.
