What if someone lives in the UK and at the same time have a 'permissio di soggiorno' in Italy and visits Italy from time to time, does the person still need to submit a B1 Italian language exam certificate? Thank you.

You didn't address gay couples who are married outside of Italy. I know that Italy doesn't yet have gay marriage, but it does have civil union. Do the same rules apply for civil unions where one spouse is Italian and the other isn't?

What if you now live in Italy, do you need to have your criminal background check document apostilled in by the italian embassy in your home country? I mean in a situation where I have lived in America my whole life until 18 months ago. For the last 18 months I have lived in Italy. I could get my criminal background check documents online and they can be sent to me. My question is, do i still need to take those documents to America to have it apostilled at an italian embassy in the USA? Thanks

Can one get by with just English in Rovigo if they choose to apply in Italy?

Yes, a good percentage of people in Rovigo speak at least a basic level of English. Also, our clients reported that people in Rovigo are very friendly and try to communicate with ICAs clients efficiently even when they are not fluent in English.

@ 1:26, that's a lie, your spouse has to be living in Italy and be a legal resident for some time and then it takes time and process for you to become a legal citizen in Italy. i am done with these people not telling the truth...

Hello Tom, we can see how it might be possible to be mistaken on this topic. At this point in time it is in fact possible to not have to reside in Italy at all. This can be noted on a number of websites of Italian consulates around the world. Also to further clarify here is the law in it's original Italian and the legislation number so you can look it up for yourself: law 91/1992, article 5 “Il coniuge, straniero o apolide, di cittadino italiano puo' acquistare la cittadinanza italiana quando, dopo il matrimonio, risieda legalmente da almeno due anni nel territorio della Repubblica, oppure dopo tre anni dalla data del matrimonio se residente all'estero”
