Center Crank seals are bad letting oil in from the rotary shaft area.

Your like me, I don't like greasy dirty sleds either. I always clean a sled before the work begins. Great video!!!

Thank you! Yes, I cant stand tracking all that grease around the rest of the shop lol.

came across ur video #1 tonight, Feb.20-2023. Yes indeed restoring old sleds can be a passion. After 45 years, no sled, now have three Grand Touring, 2-670, 1-580. looks like snow in the Tweed area this week, headed out to Quebec to get parts so I can have one in operation! This is turning into and addiction. Locally a fellow has a '95 Mack Z 779, needs work, but would be fun to have in the collection. Thumbs up, will keep an eye out for more video's. Cheers.

It certainly is an addiction, but there are much worse addictions to have! That's how I look at it. It keeps us busy and out of trouble for the most part, right? Sounds like big snow in the forecast this week! Thanks for watching and commenting, much appreciated!

I just replaced all the drive bearings, skid bearings and replaced the track in 95 summit. What a chore that was! Nothing was easy, you make it look so easy lol, thanks for the vids, keep them coming

Sounds like a big job, but worth it in the long run! Lol, that's where the editing comes in! There are certainly times where I'm dropping f-bombs left and right, but I try to keep that to a minimum on camera haha. More vids on the way!

Not entirely convinced that old f chassis summit is worth the time, but good for trying

You're probably right, not worth the time and definitely not worth the money but sometimes ya just gotta give it a shot lol

She’s definitely worthy of saving. The sled is in good shape aside from smoking like Willie Nelson and snoop dog back stage.

Great video 👍👍🤘🤘I think at this point I would be breaking the whole engine apart and replacing every gasket and seal.

Thanks dude! That's the plan I think, just not sure what to do about the inner crank seals. I dont think they're bad, but if I'm gonna tear it down that far i might as well do them. But... I really dont want to press the crank apart lol.

That's the plan man! Just debating if I wanna try to do the inner crank seals myself or not do them at all. Dont really wanna spend the money on a remanned crank...

@@NorthwoodsNoise id leave the inner crank seals alone. replace pto and mag end seals, and the rest of seals, gaskets.
@NorthwoodsNoise

@@GearheadRob319 do you think they're okay? I'm 99% sure its the carb side rotary valve shaft seal that's filling the case with oil but I'd hate to tear the whole thing down just to put it back together and have the same thing happen again.

@@NorthwoodsNoise I hear you. Hard to say for sure. After all, they are over 25 years old. Ive had luck replacing all the other seals. But always ending up selling the sled because i like to fiddle with more projects like you. Good Luck.

As I grew up in southeast Florida then lived in Texas for quite a while 20-something years and then move to the north actually you're on Ohio about 50 miles as a crow flies from Canada but I've never ridden a snowmobile and would love to you videos give me some hoping that even though I'm over 60 I would still love to do so. So I thank you for the mechanical part of it as I love mechanics and basically have been mechanicing since I was a young child thanks for all of that and watching you screw around with these two strokes

I'm glad you're enjoying it, I love reading comments like these, makes it worth all the extra BS that comes with trying to film myself lol. Age is just a number! Never to late to try something new. I hope you get the opportunity to get on one and go for a ride.
