Ay up mate I’m just gonna start by saying if I wasn’t already sold on the idea of getting a bantam I am now from finding you and your videos . I’m a 21 year old lad who’s just bought a 1985 mz ts 125 of a 63 year old biker neighbour and we’ve been rebuilding it ! I’m not a well off lad but I’m gonna work my hardest to get one this next coming year and restore it . A bit of British heritage and it keeps me out of trouble .

Excellent news - my advice is to go for it. I'm just in negotiations with the BSA Bantam owners club to get a complete engine off them and strip and repair that. I'm afraid I did my engine before I started using you tube. So watch out for those videos - they might help you. Subscribe to the channel and you'll automatically be informed when new videos arrive. Have you also considered joining the BSA Bantam owners club - they are a great source of information and help. Especially the forum part where you can ask questions and much more knowledgeable people than me will reply to help you. Good luck!. Regards Edd

Love it!. When Dad and I rebuilt my Bantam back in the eighties (before the internet) we would 'trawl' swap meets for months looking for the correct carburettor parts. We finally managed to find the outer case and most of the internals with the exception of the tickler and the curved spring it used to work. Dear old dad made one using a piece of brass from an electrical plug (turned it on his mini lathe), cut down a spring from a biro and with two very small nuts made one!. I still have it and am considering incorporating into my memorial restoration even though I now have an original one. It worked brilliantly and unlike the original didnt dent the float..

Enjoyed the video, my first 'bike was a D1 Bantam. The slide would not go back in the carb' because you did not have the correct slot lined up with the location screw in the side of the carb' body. I have just (Aug 21) put a B175 Bushman back to running order. The bits that were not held together with B&Q fence bolts had various metric bolts holding them together giving me problems getting them apart. These have now been replaced with the correct size bolts using the correct size Whitworth spanners not the nearest available metric size! I fitted a cleanable glass fuel filter to my fuel line so I can see if it is dirty fuel, but I'm finding I get bits of paint in the tank. I let it warm up before I rev it too much. Might see you at one of shows, but I am the other end of the country. Andy Hart,

HI Andy, you are so right....sometimes the obvious cannot be seen - but in my defence - it is a "warts and all" type of video show - we all have those "DOH!" moments more especially as I get older.. I know I should have let it warm up - Thats something I normally do - Nice to hear you have put a Bushman back on the road - I always wanted one of those. Good luck riding it and yes maybe we will see each other at the shows.

Hi Eddie, just want to let you know what an inspirational you’ve been to an old fart on the other side of the world, no offense maté you’re no spanner hand and at times it was a bit frustrating watching you but I admire your tenacity. I bought my first bantam about 18 months ago after loosing my wire to cancer and then a bout of bad health, nothing like what your facing, so after owning motorcycles most of my life decided for my 81st birthday buy myself a 150cc bantam that hadn’t been on the road since 1977, the first bantam I have owned, you sir can take a lot of credit for that motorcycle being back on the road street legal. So Eddie many thanks take easy stay safe mate. Cheers Grumpy

Good to see that your health has improved Eddie. Some nice prezzies and well deserved. I think the other viewer is right in his diagnosis, bits of disintegrated fuel hose will grind you to a halt. I lived in East Yorkshire, South Cave to be exact. Then I joined up and moved around the country and the world, settling in the South eventually.

Hi, settling in the south - I won't hold that against you (lol)...I've still got some replacement pipe left from when I put the tank back in I'll change it just to be safe. I know South Cave well - I live in between Beverley and Hornsea. One of my Teds Travel Tales - will be a trip to the seaside......

Thanks for posting, you could fit a little fuel filter in the delivery pipe for a few quid to prevent any tank debris from finding its way to the carb. Nice video.

Hi Paul, I did try but the only ones I could find didn't fit between the bottom of the tank and the top of the carb - as they both have metal protrusions - which slip inside the rubber fuel pipe. Have you any ideas where I could get a smaller filter?

@@bsabantambuilding8142 Classic bike parts Cheshire do them but there availlable on e bay also, my bantams just had the budget plastic ones, which worked fine, but there are more quality ones available, maybe a new fuel line would be a good idea also, as its not easy to prevent some sediment building up in old tanks. Shouldn't be expensive even with new clips Love the Bantam.

@@MrClogger100 Thanks Paul, I'll check them out and see about getting one fitted, and I've still got some of the petrol pipe left (I replaced it when I put the tank back) Good idea of yours to replace that as well.

Just an add on. When im cleanig parts like carbs or hydrlic brakes i use cotton buds. They grest to mop up liquid and get the smill grit type dirt then

Hi mate, lovely bantam, I have had 3 bantams, so I know them pretty well, did you check and drain crank case for oil/fuel? Fit a fuel filter to stop crap getting into your carb, best regards Dougie
