To mark the Queen's Official Birthday, here's an appropriate advertising break during ITV's coverage of the Queen's 90 Birthday Celebration on Sunday 15th May 2016.
You'd might expect there to be a series of themed commercials all somewhat relating to Her Majesty's nine decades. However, such an occasion deserved more of a celebration, so ITV decided to bring all of its top advertisers in for a special street party with some of ITV's most well-known faces.
Of course, with ITV at the helm, what better location for this street party than on ITV's most famous street, Coronation Street. The fun starts with the Milk Tray Man parachuting into the street with a box of Cadbury's finest, only to have Paddy McGuinness pinch a choccy for himself. On behalf of Ribena, the music is provided by London-based DJ Tigermonkey in a purple DJ set with the soundtrack of the blackcurrant cordial's surreal TV commercial, "Zooby Doo". Celebrity Juice's Keith Lemon and Fearne Cotton are suitably impressed.
The black vans from Interflora arrive in time for the party's bouquets, and a couple of people from McCain's are on hand with the chips, fries and hot potatoey snacks. Stephen Mulhern tries to impress This Morning's Ruth Langsford and Rochelle Humes with a trick involving a Mr Kipling French Fancy, only to have the tables turned on him.
Meanwhile, two beefeaters are treated to Walkers's limited Queen's Guard range of crisps (which were probably only available for a short time).
Next, the sandwiches arrive, courtesy of Hovis Bread, Dvorak's "New World Symphony", a Royal marching band and McGuinness on his bike. It's like taking bread to top of t'world!
The celebration cakes are provided by Dr Oetker cake decorations with their icing and shimmer sprays.
Clean-up is handled by Juan Sheet and his roll of Plenty (weirdly, Barry Scott and his bottle of Cillit Bang are nowhere to be seen. Unpatriotic bastard!), while the Admiral from Admiral Insurance is looking after everyone's interests.
Finally, the party is brought to a satisfying close courtesy of Katherine Jenkins leading a rousing rendition of "Happy Birthday to You". All in all, a fine time was had by all.
