Fascinating. Excellent documentary by the infamous Martin Bashir (re. Princess Diana). I've seen only one KZitem video where two men actually managed to get inside the "palace". Their trip up the scaffolding etc. was spellbinding. Mr. Van Hoogstratten is interesting to say the least. I wonder what his children will do with this enormous "palace" after he has passed on.

I'm not sure how true this is. But I read that as he has arranged for himself to be buried there, under English law that means it cannot be sold. So I suppose it will continue to rot . What I do know is I would so love to explore it lol.
@halfbakedproductions7887

@@Laura...... I don't think he'll be buried there now because it's not even finished and never will be. The mansion is owned by a company operated by his children which means he doesn't own it, therefore it can't be taken from him when he dies. I think once he's gone they should demolish it and either sell the land (which will be extremely valuable) or develop peasant housing on it. Under that scenario there's still ample opportunity to make money and exploit people.

@@alexjewell2351 The court ruled that he didn't have the intent for Mohammed Raja to be killed. And to be fair he probably didn't. No matter who you are, the courts don't fuck around when it comes to murder - and he learned that the hard way. It brought him a world of hassle and put him in probably the toughest predicament of his life. He seems to have had a pretty bad time in Belmarsh (he couldn't exert the usual control and Jack the Lad attitude in previous prisons he'd served in) and later said he had real sympathy for anyone sent there.

Martin Basheer, despite his high reputation as a journalist, makes quite a number of silly mistakes here - Mr van Hoogstraten just said that the first room is the Grand Salon and then about a minute after that as he walks from the front door into the large room Basheer asks right away what is this room and Mr van H. has to say again it is the Grand Salon.
