Its different from their other songs and its not everyones vibe, but tbh...the lyrics make this song VERY POWERFUL, imo. I shed a couple tears thinking about how they confided in JYP and he gave em this bomb to drop on the haters. It FEELS like they grew through the Sneakers hate and this song was their journey. Idk, it hit me different. Very empowering song and possibly my favorite of theirs.

People like to hate on ITZY and their releases but let it slide and hype up other groups when they release something similiar- this isn't sitting well with me. I've noticed this on twitter but with kpop reactors as well. It's okay to not like a song, but it's okay to like one as well even if everyone is saying something negative about it.

I think the song delivers a really good message - which about how we can be our own worst critics and the importance of having faith/confidence in ourselves to overcome that self-doubt. However, what I really appreciate is how the song also acknowledges that success is still not guaranteed, that failure is indeed still a possibility but that we have to try anyway even if we will fall again and again. Here, it shows the reality that some of the doubts we have in ourselves aren't just in our own heads and can instead come from a real place but that isn't an excuse not to try all the same. Also, in Yuna's story, I feel part of the message is that we have to first help ourselves before others can help us. If you notice, when the others first come to break her out of the train, she eventually winds up trapped in it again until she manages to escape by herself.

What stood out to me aside from it being super catchy (specially after you listen to it several times) are the lyrics and the symbolisms on the music video. If you are someone who follows Itzy or Kpop in general, you will know exactly what it is about. To me that makes the song even more special, Itzy deserves the world. They are so precious.

i can definitely see why people don’t like it or don’t get it though, it’s really different itzy as well but on a side note, the MV is incredibly meaningful for them like: - they had a huge hate train from sneakers to cheshire, people were giving up and turning on them. yuna was in that train and the pictures on the train wall were exactly those eras. - lia had always been the most hated in itzy for her dance and vocals and she had expressed about her insecurities and fears and in the mv. she’s opening the box with her inside looking scared and sad, along with the lyrics, it symbolises that she’s uncovering and overcoming her fears. - also the last part where they were running one after another, it’s actually the sequence they got chosen as an itzy member. and the location was the same tunnel as in their debut “dalla dalla”.

Sound wise very different for ITZY but overall I love it. It's good for a B-side though . In summary the message of the song is all about their hardship and dealing with the haters from their last comeback (just for me). Big example in the train or what they call hate train (correct me if I'm wrong) their are a lot of pictures from Sneakers (Yuna's scene) which they got a lot of hate. - My opinion

Speaking specifically sonically, the flavors I (personally) was getting weren’t really 2nd gen k-pop but rather the bright, vibrant, hopeful, europop club ballads contemporaneous with the era. Despite those kinds of tracks technically still being “dance music,” they’re comparatively mellow, more about looking inward and finding oneself than partying socially or making a big public statement. Adding in the lyrics really elevates the piece. Just like Twice’s “Feel Special,” this song is written as a result on conversations JYP had with Itzy’s members, looking back at their career so far from this halfway point, discussing their struggles and methods they used to see through those hardships.

people can't just enjoy things for what it is nowadays, we always set our standards so high that we can never be fully satisfied. i respect your opinion tho but this is my sentiment. as midzy who witness the hate train towards itzy, this song is just perfect for me. I honestly thought the song is gonna be like "bet on itzy" "itzy is the best" kind of vibe but they chose the concept of "i bet on myself" which is brave and truly relatable. sometimes it's just amazing how kpop idols can impact the lives of others and i'm proud to see that with this song. definitely not a showstopper typa song but it was impactful for me

I genuinely think wether or not someone gets this song is dependent on how long they’ve been actively stan-ing them. From what I’ve observed, this song really struck home with those of us who have witnessed Itzy’ s journey as a group (the brief ups and the constant downs) I wouldn’t say I’m the biggest fan of europop or even slower songs outside of rnb but this just clicked for me, I knew instantly what the lyrics meant and it really connected me to the song. The more I listen the more it draws me in! It’s not for everyone and that’s okay:)

@@gingerfani the criticism isn’t to the lyrics or what they’re trying to convey but the genre of the instrumental … I don’t think the two match … surely you’re not that dense to understand that’s what I meant. The MV and the lyrics don’t match with the sound of the instrumental in MY opinion. When I hear euro pop/dance in Kpop I associate it with 2nd gen groups like 2NE1 who would would wear booty shorts and stilettos and execute an iconic choreography … that’s what was missing from the specific sound of song… FOR ME. When I hear this sound in Kpop that’s what I want to see. I think it was the wrong choice of instrumental for the meaning behind the song, that’s my opinion.. deal with it.

This song is probably 80% lyrics and 20% music. The simple layers and antidrop is a purposeful choice because it is supposed to feel empty so the music doesn't upstage the powerful meanings behind the song and music video. Totally understand your opinions on the song, but this is one where having lyrics would have helped understand the journey.

Tbh, youtube compresses audio quality, and I do agree with you that something is lost in the process in Bet On Me. I think it's missing this certain punch, oomph, or drive to it. The chorus is kinda stagnant, and I wish there is more production development and layering of the vocals. I would be like oh this is fun, but for now, it's a bit bland. I feel like there is nothing sonically interesting about this track and it feels like it could've gone more fuller and developed. I am not mad at this, I feel like Itzy is going back to their good music era since Cheshire and Snowy. I am giving this a tentative 6.8/10. Idk, Bet On Me sounds really empty to me.

@slaystinn
Жыл бұрын
@fifizappareacts Ik, I feel like the vocals on this track feel like a void of any personality or substance to it, along with the empty stripped down instrumentation, it feels and sounds very empty and emotionless. I kinda changed my mind. Their voices kinda lack dynamics or emotions put into them, or it's the production that lacks dynamics. Dynamics helps make the track and vocals more engaging and full of personality to them, and I feel like this track lack that. Their vocals spunds like they want to stay stable rather than potraying the emotions. I think I am just not a fan of their vocal tones. That is coming from someone who vibes with a lot of SM tracks and power house vocalists under SM. I am not going to slander itzy or anything, but they really need to work on their vocals. If they have the technique and vocal agility, this track would be more elevated. I am happy that the producers gave them something comfortable to fit the vocal range of itzy. Personally, I like it when Itzy does a deep house sound presented in Dalla Dalla and hyperpop in 24 hours, in the Morning and Cheshire. I was a bit too kind with my rating. 5.5/10
