So if order is 1litre over 24 hrs we need to convert it to ml/hr first right? So given the drop factor is 20 drops / ml, 1000÷24=41.6 MLS/hr , 41.6 ÷ 3= 13.8 drops/min, correct?

patient needs 4mg of a medication. The Australian Injectables Drug Handbook states that each gram of this medication is to be mixed with 10mL of water over 3-5 minutes via IV bolus. After preparing the medication, how many mL per minute would you administer if you do it over 5 minutes?

According to the question, if the order is 1g of a medication means you need to administer @ 2mL per minute. But here what you have asked is patient needs 4mg of a medication. Let me try to compute and please cross check the answer and let me know.... Each gram of the medication is mixed with 10 mL of water but here we need to mix .0004 g (4mg) with _____ml If 1000mg (1g) is equivalent to 10mL, we can calculate the volume for 4mg as follows: 4mg = (4mg / 1000mg) * 10mL 4mg = 0.004 * 10mL 4mg = 0.04mL 0.04mL over 5 minutes 0.04 /5 = .008 mL/minute Hope the answer is correct according to the question what u have asked. However kindly cross check the answer. Thank you Yellow Pages Nursing
