I always liked Ivan Lendl...the tennis player and the human being. And he's an EXTREMELY bright man. I can see how he'd be a great Dad, with that 'out of the blue' humor and wisdom. The guy's been around like a doughnut..and when you consider he was just one generation removed from being raised in a war-torn country, from "behind the Iron Curtain", there is a certain levity he should be allowed, him, Navratilova and Mandlikova. All of whom were very misunderstood players in their early years. And for me, Ivan is in my top 5 greatest of all time...easily. Because like McEnroe, Connors, Borg and Federer, Ivan moved the entire game, further. He was a seminal player..a man who changed the game, just like those other guys I mention. I mean, there is no Pete Sampras, if there wasn't the mold that Lendl created.

He's so much better in real life! We didn't know him really in his playing days. He wasn't very communicative either & rather stiff offish & didn't really let his guard down. Now I love him & a really honest pro who was misjudged by most of us. Sorry Ivan.

His bad back made it hard to stay in shape, that’s what killing yourself playing tennis for 30 years does to you.

Years ago someone had a sign that said "Ivan the Robot". This is probably why he didn't have a legion of fans and people could not relate to him. It is this amongst many of facets why I love him. A human playing like a robot and very rarely did the software go wrong.
