I saw you haven't posted an update after shooting this gun, so I assume you already know this, but I'll clarify a few points for people who find this video. - The DP12 and KSG are pump actions. As much as anyone wants to believe they'll be more reliable in a duress situation because they have a simple mechanism and "they train with it"... human physiology is such that you will experience a short-stroke. In fight or flight, under real duress, your vision narrows/tunnels and skeletal muscles enlarge and even tremor/shake due to increased blood flow. Adrenaline pumps, and your heart rate spikes. Stroking a pump action, or any fine motor movements becomes more difficult. The issue gets worse if you receive any trauma... as blood vessels contract in your limbs to direct blood to the torso and your limbs weaken. Militaries have realized for over a century that handing someone a firearm in these situations is problematic. The less you need to do to get rounds down range, the better and more reliable you'll be. This is why people in basic training are taught how to shoot semi-auto and full-auto weapons. Break/bolt/lever/pump actions are just too slow and involve too much manual manipulation to be as effective for trained soldiers, much less general civilians. I know that as a hunting shotgun, or a range toy, anything it probably fine if the mechanics are solid enough it doesn't jam when cycled... but a tactical shotgun doesn't have the luxury of ignoring the environmental conditions that will be affecting the owner/shooter. YMMV. That said, there are so many cheap Turkish made semi-auto shotguns out there, I'd seriously consider a pump action given those options. There are few shotguns that meet the reliability of the IWI made weapons (yes, that 20,000 round durability test the IDF requires for all Israeli weapons also applies to this shotgun). - GHOST LOADING: The gun has a spot on the elevator to hold a shell. A full loadout of the IWI TS12 means you get 1 in the chamber, plus 1 ghost-loaded on the lifter, and 3 full tubes. 3.00": 14 rounds. 2.75": 17 rounds. 2.5" and 2.25": 20 rounds. If you find some Noble Sport 2.25" minibuck shells they cycle and fire perfect (they have 6 pellets of 00-buck doing 1250 to 1300 fps). Shorter or weaker shells are a no go. - RECOIL: This gun has very mild recoil compared to any pump or break action shotgun. The bolt is a built-in recoil system, and being gas operated it bleeds gas off after the wad passes the gas port (~40% of recoil is just the jet-engine effect from gas coming out forward through the muzzle). If you want it even softer, there are 3 or 4 excellent options: 1) JMAC Customs Muzzle Break 4C-12. 2) Falcon Strike Hydraulic Recoil Butt pad (a thick gel like pad that spreads for a wider, soft compression fit upon firing) though a cheaper option is the extended/curved Manicore Arms Butt pad, and 3) American Tactical 9" or Fusion Firearms 8" choke tube Barrel Extensions (longer barrels allow for projectiles to gain more speed, about 200fps more, but also allows more gas expansion before exiting the barrel... lowering the pressure out the muzzle and the recoil generated). - The TS12 comes with 2 Benelli/Beretta Mobil threaded choke tubes, but that also means you can use the JMAC Customs' muzzle break (with improved cylinder bore for buck or slugs), but also the Carson's Rifled Choke Tube. If you use any barrel extensions or extended chokes you'll want to get a Manicore Arms Muzzle Break barrel nut to replace the factory nut. They screw on/off by hand, but the factory nut has a small lip on it that some extended chokes can't pass through. The Manicore Arms nut doesn't have this problem. That 18.5" barrel can now be a 27.5" barrel (plus any extended choke) making skeet/trap shooting possible, or just giving rifled slugs a bit more punch to reach out to plink steel. - QUAD LOADING... the TS12 has the EASIEST loading of any shotgun I've ever used. Quad loading is simple if you carry reloads in the proper carrier. - CYLINDER ROTATION. If you play with it enough, you'll probably find that, for righties, you'll find the fastest cylinder rotation is by pulsing the release button with your trigger finger, while holding the front of the mag tube support arm at the VERY front of the mag. With your left hand on the vertical front arm that holds the magazine then flicking the outside tube towards your left hand by flicking your bottom 2 or 3 fingers like you're making a fist. My first impression was to do what most people do and support the middle of the magazine tube with my front arm (like it was a break action shotgun)... but reaching forward and using the bottom pivot arm support like a vertical fore grip on a AR platform is WAY faster and more secure. - OPTICS: That single piece NATO/picatinny rail is great for pretty much anything. I use a holographic with flip-up irons, but there are other options. A laser on the MLOKs and a carry handle with iron sights is also a comfortable set up. HK G36 carry handles (both with or without red dots) bolt right on, as do any Turkish shotgun carry handles like the Dickenson Ranger or from the Escort BTS (made by Hatsan) or the TriStar Compact Tactical shotgun (if you want real Starship Trooper vibes). - COMB Riser - while a true riser is probably unnecessary since the bullpup design puts that stock so far up, but I do use a stick-on neoprene pad, about 3/8" thick. PRS guys have all kinds of cheek pad set ups that you can adapt, but a simple stick on foam pad is a nice touch. ;)

The thing that's funny about the whole renewed interest in 357 Sig is that it doesn't matter what caliber he used to dome the guy at X yards. What matters is he scored a head shot on his first and only shot fired and ended the threat. Don't know why folks are making such a big deal about the caliber. A head shot is a head shot. He could have used anything from a .380 to .45 and the results would have likely been the same. It's the skill of making that shot that I find impressive.

So this video is pretty old. Have you had any revelations after spending time with the TS-12 ? You will no doubt have noticed it in fact IS a soft shooter, even with magnum slugs. I don't know about yourse, but mine is up to around 2000 rounds without any failures. And it ran light loads and birdshot just fine straight off the bat. I have been training with shotguns for 2 decades or more and I have nothing against pump guns. I love them and have a bunch of them. You should check out the KSG-25. A few tweaks and it is utterly reliable. That said, the Benellit M1014 aside, my 2 favorite shotguns and the ones that are always close to me are the Beretta 1301T LE and the good old, heavily modified, 1995 Cruiser model Mossberg 500 with Magpul furniture. I'm no firearms trainer so there's something I might be missing, but I don't care for .357 Sig. Air Marshals carry .357 Sig. If it is good for them, it’s good enough for me... 😜

Exact same gun choices as you my friend, our bedrooms are both very safe with the FNP or X-45, suppressed and light so no hearing damage or blindness on the very first shot at night. You have good taste and smart choices with those 5.6 and .300 Bk Out. the best ammo for the .300 is Lehigh Defense - Close Quarters Combat, trust me on this. I think most people have no idea what to expect if they have to fire a shot in the dark, without a suppressor it's a very bad deal for the shooter. Deaf and blind is no way to fight to the death. I plan to get one of this shotguns for the same reason, it's so cool and I love my IWI guns so I know I will love the shotgun too. I don't like them for in the house, too much possible damage flying around, I prefer more accurate rounds that stay put. May I suggest Underwood ammo. It's at another level of goodness. 357 sig E.D. rounds are at 65g. @ 2,100 fps. very cool.

This shotgun is more deadly than a AR15 and i like it. it would help me win against 10 home invaders easily.

STD put out a warning about aftermarket VFGs on the DP-12. Also, how do you actuate the light on your KSG without removing you hand from the VFG?

I carry a sig .357. It's a fast accurate round. That has good penetration but like you said, doesn't blow through causing possible collateral damage.
