I love Wolstenholm and Rogers knives. They are VERY underrated!

Very nice. It reminds me of a Buck USA Barlow I have. Built as a user in a day when these were everyman’s edc. Before the flippers and supersteels were ever thought of! Very grounding. I like it. I’ve a Wostenholm Spearpoint in a similar vein to show as soon as I’ve a minute to film it. I’ve 12,000 leaflets to deliver, which are taking over my life right now!

Great wee knife, I have this exact black handled model sitting beside my laptop as I type this. It's was my dads, he would have bought it in here in New Zealand in the 60's or early 70's. It's been sharpened to the point the tip is level with edge of the scales and is in very "used" condition but it still works perfectly well, no play in the blade, everything tight and intact. It has gutted 100s of fish and skinned 100's of rabbits and brings back so many fond memories of times with him when I was a kid. These knives can endure a lifetime of daily use, my dads one certainly did. I just checked and George Wostenholm registered the I*XL trademark in 1826 so this brand dates back almost 200 years.

Nice Find Paddy! Lovely classic barlow with flat stamped bolster. The IXL Wostenholm mark has always been a favorite of mine. I have some dating back to the early 20th Century. Unfortunately, they used the same mark so long that they are very hard to date. Most Makers stopped using bone covers in the early to mid 60's. My guess is it's 70's - 80's because Stainless Steel was just becoming common place at that time. Enjoy it! looks like a fun user. YTB🍀😊👍

It’s Wostenholm‘a beauty and irritation; the same stamp for nearly 200 years! I’ve only 2 and can’t date them at all.

Nice review - however, its amazing there seems such lack of reviews on their current version. I must say there's something very appealing about a Barlow 👍

I really like traditional knifes and own a few , but for me not for edc collection only ,the reason I really struggle to open them some of the backsprings just have a too stronger pull for me to open comfortably.

I have got a two blade (Spear and pen) IXL Barlow on the same frame, the IXL on the bolster looks identical and so do the tang stamps and the angle of the heel of the blade. Mine I originally bought as a present for my Dad in the '70s and got it back when he passed away 3 years ago. You have a nice knife there, no idea if the price was good or bad but I have seen them on US sites where they were asking more than that.

Check out the rough rider cinnamon stag series for drop dead gorgeous users. Super cool, just like this one. Although the barlow in this video is especially sexy.

I think perhaps you are being a bit loose with the term antique. The knife you have there is a relatively modern iteration of a George Wostenholm knife and they are still being sold today. When I think of antique Sheffield pocket knives I think of knives at least 100 years old. As for the I*XL mark, that was not reserved for their better quality knives, ALL their knives were thus stamped. Also, is that not a stainless blade?
