I put off watching this, not because I didn't know it would be wonderful but because I was just too heartbroken and disappointed by the finale to watch any of the footage from it again for a while. Thank you for transforming it into something this beautiful, and for closing out on those perfect - if all too brief - moments of belonging and hope.

Your comment means so much to me! ❤️ Thank you for your kind words. I will never watch that finale ever again. In my mind, s2e6 was the series finale. I tried my best to "turn poison into positivity" when I made this video, so that way Izzy can be remembered for his beauty, hope and vulnerability not his rushed, poorly written and unnecessary death.

I don't think I can ever go back to the finale either. It's not just that Izzy died, or even how he died (I'm usually 100% here for poignant but fitting endings, but this was not it), but how the circumstances and aftermath of his death undercut everything the show had seemed to be building to in terms of meaningful character development and resolution. It really did turn positivity into poison for me; right now I can't even go back to season 1, because caring about the characters or the show's ethos just seems sad, knowing how the promises of it not only won't be paid off but in some places seem deliberately torched. This video really helps. Your edit manages to pull meaning and emotion from the finale that couldn't make its way through with how it was cut in the original, and the way you use the reorganization of the narrative timeline to highlight what really resonates from Izzy's story gives me hope. Fandom is transformative, and those of us who had been hoping for something cleverer, queerer, and kinder from OFMD, will just keep doing what we've always done when mainstream media lets us down: take the parts that spoke to us and use our creativity and love to turn it into something new.

@@theoracleatdelphi4540 I completely agree with everything you said. Characters are killed off all of the time, so it's one thing to have lost Izzy but it is another to lose everything that made the show a comfort to many of us in the span of 25 minutes. It almost felt deliberate to completely destroy the show and deplete the story of any hope, optimism or positivity that made it so special in season 1. I'm so happy that my video helped because that was my intention.

This is such an amazing tribute to a character that means so much to me - playing a role because you feel like that's what you're supposed to do, internalized homophobia, engaging in toxic relationships, self acceptance, realizing what matters the most, challenging life head-on -- good GOD. Thank you.

I have been waiting for your take on the final episodes. This is so beautiful. I have watched and rewatched his scenes, so i should not still be crying a week later. The way you show his story. His point of view. Ending with him singing, the unicorn note. Bawling 😢

Thank you!! The whole fandom should just put the finale in Frenchie's box and forget it even exists. I understand that budget cuts were mostly to blame. It just really rubs me the wrong way that it was David Jenkins' plan all along to kill off Izzy when his entire story arch this season was giving me the impression that he would become the new captain. This whole "Izzy had to die so Ed could be himself" is such a lie because both Izzy and Ed had already moved on in the episode prior to the finale. It just felt like the writers had to get rid of Izzy because he's a constant reminder that Ed is, in fact, an abuser and they didn't have enough time to give Ed a redemption arc or coherent character development. Uggh I'm still so bitter about the whole thing, so I made this fan edit to work through it 😂 What did you think of the finale?

@lassofthemoon.ree. You basically articulated everything I felt. I loved Izzy so much, I almost feel they developed him in detriment to Ed. Like at the end of s1 I know a lot of people wanted to see Izzy die. I already liked him. But at the end of s2 I felt like Ed became the villian. It was hard to feel him and Stede was a happy ending because Ed just never took a real look at himself and he just treated everyone terribly and then Izzy apologized to him. He takes all responsibility for Blackbeard! I thought when Lucius pointed out he never apologized that it would turn to something. It didn't. I loved the first 5 episodes. Season 2 episode 2 is my favorite episode of the series. I loved a lot of episode 6. The last two episodes just felt out of place. The acting/ visuals always absolutely stellar though. The cast of this show is my the favorite TV ensemble. Deep bench. Just weird writing decisions based probably on limited time and maybe a little bit of mismanaged priority in storylines. Imho. Unfortunately a bad finale can tank a season. If the goal was to make me cry, I absolutely did. That was a success.

I haven't been able to bring myself to watch the finale since it aired. Watching this made me weep and genuinely moved me in a way that I feel like I have closure now. This is the best edit I've ever seen of Izzy. I cannot express enough how much I love this. Thank you for ending it with La Vie en Rose. For me, Izzy's story ended in ep 6 (this is how I cope). Just phenomenal ❤❤❤

This was truly brilliantly edited, an astounding tribute. The way you paired all those scenes and audio... Perfection. You did so much justice to Izzy's character. I love this video as much as I love Izzy.
