So I can understand if you feel the timing of the song is off. Cole always talks about social issues in his music, He has marched with the people, He donates money and invest in his community and promotes Blackness. He makes a song where he’s saying he doesn’t understand why a Queen is upset with him and he needs her to enlighten him on what he’s doing wrong. I feel like ppl are mad because of who it was about and the timing. But I thought it was a very honest and introspective song which made him vulnerable. Everyone isn’t going to see things or process things the way that you do. Having these conversations with each other are important in the effort to understanding how we can better support each other. If you hide your thoughts, we’d keep avoiding having tough conversations. This song was intended to be a look into an artists struggle to find his place in a powerful movement after he was called out by a Queen. But the ppl wanted him to drop a social justice anthem and were let down instead.

I still think you’re all tripping! The man spoke how he felt, and you all want to drag him. Kendrick doesn’t say anything, you all want to drag him. You’re essentially saying that you're damned if you do, and you’re if you don’t. Your message is lost in your feelings. I understand that your feelings are important and shouldn’t be ignored, but what Cole said wasn’t wrong. If you expect everyone to be on your level and wavelength when it comes to action and activism, you’re going to always be disappointed. Educate them, don’t destroy them. Don’t berate them. However you may feel on the subject you’re the expert in, you must remember that you’re dealing with the ignorant. If you have no patience for those who don’t know, you’re ill equipped to lead or teach.

He stated his opinion. #3 - I knew they were gonna get him for that "children" line because ppl can't think past their face. But the words "children" and "ignorant" carry negative undertones and will always get a rapper in trouble.

I like the sing. Above all, it still expressed the need for us to do our research on what we're fighting against and the importance of fighting the right way!

Noname complains about Kendrick and Cole while she stay tweeting at home. Cole and Kdot dedicated their careers to black excellence, and have actually been to the riots in person. You tell me who has done more and who has the right to criticise?

I don’t think a lot of people actually listened to the song. Or a lot of people aren’t used to lyrics.......Brother was policing himself based off his shortcoming and how he feels.....

The message of the song is to sophisticated for the majority of the people to understand and internalize!

Its funny how this backfired they thought they was gonna cancel Cole. Cole has done too much good to be canceled everyone involved in bashing him is gonna look stupid look at the comment section 95% of the comments support Cole why because despite what anyone says we have SEEN what he does for the community

Give me someone outspoken ANY time coz you KNOW where you stand rather than someone whom has strong feelings and insideosly hide them then slap you with them when you least expect it . EVERYONE must express themselves as long as no harm is done onto others. We all need space to express other wise things manifest in the physical world and not always for the better

Ain't nothing controversial about someone speaking the truth in his raps. If it's how he feels and he lays it all out there in the song and sets it up so that there is no confusion about what's he's saying then wtf is the problem. All your criticzing is what he mentioned and talking about her queen tone... He didn't say the bitch shouldn't have that tone.. since when did expressing your feelings regardless of your platform become something to cry over.

Fuck Twitter!! J. Cole is super talented and he is one of the best rappers alive right now! A man can’t be honest because he’ll get threatened to get cancelled out? That’s the problem. They want all rappers to emphasize money, drugs, and the same bad habits that go on in the “hood”. Believe it or not some young kids do what their favorite rapper is rapping about. This man is a legend in my eyes and I feel that he has the right to express himself. I was too young when Pac was doing his thing but I’m sure glad we have Cole now. A super talented artist that stands behind his amazing lyrics.

Crazy how the whole track is about criticizing the way she goes about sending her message while at the same time recognizing that he needed to do better but that shit flew right over people’s heads and instead they focused on “ooga booga me see man say bad thing about black woman me hate that man”, shit’s embarrassing.

I appreciate Cole. I remember when he was dissing KanYe for being a false prophet, prospering from the plight of black folx, and saying that Ye could be doing much more. Cole got a taste of his own medicine. He saw what it's like with the shoe on the other foot. He came out of if humbled. I appreciate Cole for admitting that he can do more and that he is a false prophet. That's beautiful. His record wasn't perfect but it was honest. I appreciate him. Wish him well and I hope people start to follow NoName because she is brilliant all around. (+)

We honestly don’t need to see a tweet or even hear recognition from celebrities, what we do need is for these politicians and us as Americans to understand right is right and wrong is wrong. I’m a huge jcole fan and agree with everything he says. I’m highly disappointed in chance the rapper bc the way he addressed the issue was childish in times like this don’t we need to pick each other up instead of tearing one another down?
