Oh I agree. A helmet (expecially when schooling) is so important.

@skybot456 Jean Francois Pignon is a very very talented horse man who practices Natural Horsemanship, which is basically the art of training a horse without using brutal methods or forcing the horse to do something. It is very effective. It is not necessarily hard to ride tackless, but it shows a depth of communication and understanding with the horse.

Sorry I didn't mean actualy jumping over a fence I meant ''jumped on'' as in ''get on''. I agree with you though. My own students do jump throw a gym line with out reins or without sturrups for balance but never with out the 'safety' of the saddle to grab :) and the horses are doing small fences and are school masters.

@sarahlouisefox The whip is there to aid in communication. It's for a cue, it's not stick to beat the horse with. I've watched him train horses before, he uses natural horsemanship techniques based on body language. I don't see any inherent "domination" in his methods.

....anyone who has owned a horse has jumped on it bare back before. AND anyone who's been riding at a high enough level on a well trained horse could direct with their legs'seat/thights as he's doing (with out saddle or bridle). Don't forget 'shows' (like what this guy does for a living) are for non-horsey city people to Oooo and Aaaaa at, not riders/horse owners who w/t/c/jump at home every day and know what he's doing (though cool) is NOT impossible...the clapping is sooo funny! He's at HOME!
